Great video, rather than these Petrol Heads videos, spending 90% of the video about how fast it goes at what speed! Nope, I buy a car, only Jags, as is like driving around in your favourite arm chair. Built for comfort mixed with elegant class, but also makes a statement. That statement being. Yep - mostly short trips to the shops. It comes down to 9L/100kms on the long road. Once got it down to just 7.8L/100kms on a long trip but that was only doing 100kph-120kph - I prefer 140kph - its a nice comfortable speed to travel at. Thanks for watching ;-)

Since this is the first video of this car on your channel, and this video is more or less just an introduction and a walkaround video of it, I would be really interested to know its origin story. How you came to want it, how you got it, all that stuff. I know it's too late (maybe) for a video now, so that would be some sort of labor of love to reminisce about how it came to be.
@carfanfan5 жыл бұрын
Hey Rick - it would make an interesting video. I regret selling it and am currently looking at buying a later model XF, 2014 or 2015 if possible - same shape, just face lifted. Back in 2012, my neighbor up the road from us bought a 3L petrol and used to roar past our house in the evenings and I reveled at the exhaust note. At the time, I had a 3.6 Cadillac CTS but it didn't sound as nice as the Jag - so I decided to sell the Caddy and buy an XF with the same engine and loved it from day one. I might do a video on it ;)

Hilton just tried function still no action... I looked in the manual to see if fuse problem or relay but still nothing. Do you think I should take it in to the dealer since it must be malfunctioning.
@carfanfan6 жыл бұрын
Did you have a battery replacement recently or did they just stop working? Firstly, check on the center display under vehicle settings if the folding function is set to "on" - if it is, then press the two mirror buttons to fold them in and then press again to fold them out - this resets the mirrors to fold automatically when you press the buttons on the keyfob.

Hilton I just purchased the car November 4th , I personally haven't changed the battery and I guess I was too excited didn't even notice it wasn't working. On my menu tab it doesn't give an option like that it just gives for mirror dip.

Hi Hilton, thanks for your videos. After I heard that the Jaguars are reliable cars on Buyers Guide on Dstv I started searching and came across your videos. Buyers Guide did say that the 2.2 Diesel is quite reliable but i see that you prefer the 3.0l Jags. I wanted to ask your advice and your take on the 2.0l petrol and Diesel Jags, are they just as reliable as your 3.0l. Not much info is out on this car and it's reliability. I do know that spares and services will be expensive but i don't want my Jaguar to be in the Repair Centre every month either. Thanks
@carfanfan2 жыл бұрын
Hey there. Since making this video, I've owned the 2l petrol as well as the supercharged 5L V8 and all of them served me well. I drove them pretty hard sometimes and they never skipped a beat. I read on the forums the four cylinder ingenium engines aren't reliable due to timing chain failure but didn't experience that. Then when I bought my V8, I read the same thing about the V8 and again my experience was pleasant. The diesels are strong engines and the older they get, the more frugal they become. Just don't get a 3l diesel as the DPF on those cars give major hassles. Jaguar dropped the engine entirely eventually. They have only now just dropped the 3l petrol engine to be replaced by a six cylinder inline engine for 48v capabilities for the hybrid versions of their cars. So you're pretty safe going for a 2l petrol or a 2.2 diesel or a 2l diesel. Just make sure the oil is changed regularly, once a year or every 15k and the engine will last forever. Those complaints were from people who didn't service their cars. Well then one can't expect it to last now can you 😉

@carfanfan3 жыл бұрын

Amos Khoza Amos, I assume you're from South Africa? In Rands terms, you will be looking at between R4,000 and R6,000 for a service depending what service. When buying one, make sure it has full service history and doesn't need brakes - brakes are very expensive. Considering that cost annually, its cheap compared to the depreciation on a brand new car with less features 😁

Hey Philip, the valet button is for when you go to a restaurant and they have valet parking - you can put the car in "valet" mode which will allow you to enter a 4 digit pin code and this will prohibit the car going over a certain speed as well as locking the trunk and glove box. Hey bro i'm gonna help ya out... do to the fact that u love your car as i love my 2011 XF.......but in a diffrent kinda way lol. your all about luxury, elegance that classy .. i'm assuming. as im all about raw Horse P and speed. i have a 5.0 litre V8 385 hp 380 foot p of torque . your engine cover holds and traps alot heat... that black hood liner on the inside of your hood holds heat aswell! bad ..bad ..bad. talkin about heat soak all the time and that engine creates alot of heat. almost 180 degreesF. with that cover an liner man. well over the years, hot cold ..hot cold thats bad on the wiring harness..thats why you get odd lights poping up.. but the car seems to run fine. i also run a light E85 fuel mix..it bumps up the timing giving me more low end torque love it. also keeps the cylinders 6 degrees cooler...thats the e85 doin that. second... the air filters the factory ones have a huge restriction in them! u should replace them with a K&N fit.....your car will breathe and run a lot better, faster too. ok this next mod is not for you ......but for me it worked like a charm. i did the muffler delete only. the factories are a huge restriction so i did a muffler removel. now my engine can breathe!!!! giving me more torque and more HP..... and engine bay is 50 degrees cooler than before. the sound is not loud .. but not quiet either!!! but it also improved my gas milege too! becuz of the less restriction. but when i nail it.....it sounds like a race car goin sideways down the road i love it. last but not least..... now this upgrade is for you lol ..i actually ordered the jaguar cat hood ornament for the hood and it makes the car look even more classy people love it..and it looks great...its a 600 dollar piece from the dealer but ofcorse i got it cheaper than that. .....add that it looks great. and its the same jag cat from the old school jags that cat hood ornament the pouncer.

You saying a front suspension joint was dropping oil??? Or was it just contaminated with oil from an engine oil leak? Making it soft! Did the Stealer fix the oil leak? As for replacing the whole arm or as in your case both arms? For no reason all that was needed replacing is one push out to replace the affected bush and push in a replacement! Think you might be very wise to find a new Stealer who's not full of bulls poo!! Just to empty your pockets $$
@carfanfan3 жыл бұрын
Not with the bushes on the main control arm. The bushes like engine mounts are filled with oil to provide that cushy ride. When they fail, they leak. And you can't just shove a new one in there without breaking it and having it leak again. It's a whole arm... And a leg 🤣
