In his defense, the KZfaq algorithm has been super wack. You have to be following people in order to see their videos even show up, and those that DO show up, are because your logged in and your past search history is tied to that related content. If I don't look up James Charles, he would never show up on my feed. Ever. I noticed big KZfaqr's would sometimes get their videos recommended, now not so much anymore.

@iamchrispaezjr that’s funny, plenty of channels show up that I’m neither following or subscribed to no matter if I’m logged in or not. I get lots of different, new, recommendations based on content I click on most (mainly makeup, skincare, true crime, commentary). Yes views are down for many creators but, for JC in particular, the unsavory/illegal things he’s done are more likely the biggest reason for his drop.

Not to mention that it takes a long time to fully use an eyeshadow palate. At some point you can have too much make up you could never use just going to waste.

I've been using the same couple of brands for a few years now. At this point I think everyone has what they like and stick to it.

Also, with grooming or any romantic/sexual manipulation of a minor, that individual minor’s feelings about it doesn’t negate the bad behavior of the adult in that situation. Just because in your instance, you don’t feel like the men you lied to about your age should go to jail, that doesn’t remove the responsibility on them as the adult in that situation to not engage with minors in an inappropriate way. It’s the same logic for why there are statutory r-word laws (trying not to get censored by KZfaq) that are meant to protect minors who are below the age of consent that engage in sexual relationships with adults that are 4+ years older than them (atleast in the US and specifics vary state by state), regardless if both participants believe it was consensual. So no, James’s situation was not blown out of proportion. He was shamed for his behavior. He probably could’ve faced jail time at most if the victims went forward to the police or a prosecutor chose to charge him. If he were any other average 20 something-year-old, he would’ve faced legal consequences for his actions.

@@BooksRebound The law isn’t punishing people for being lied to. That’s putting the blame on the victim and not the responsibility on the adult who should know better. The law is punishing people who take advantage of minors/put them in inappropriate circumstances. Ignorance of the law is never an excuse,and neither is ignorance of fact (like the perpetrator being unaware the person is a minor). Just because a person doesn’t know that they are engaging in criminal behavior doesn’t mean they are excused from legal repercussions of that criminal behavior (assuming a prosecutor pursues to charge them). As a matter of safety, children should not be engaging in intimate, sexual relationships with adults. Outside of it being disgusting, children are vulnerable to exploitation. So much so, they cannot legally consent to lots of things. Being in that type of relationship harms their psychological development in the long run.

I’ve also seen people really like Nikkietutorials’s brand Nimya. Lady Gaga’s brand Haus Labs has also been getting some hype and people seem to really like her products. However I do not consider Gaga an influencer since she’s famous for her singing and now acting. But other than those I don’t see anything special with most influencer brands. Usually they all sell the same overpriced eyeshadow palettes and lipsticks.
