Ohne Filter was a popular music program run by the German public TV station SWF from 1983 to 2001. The show featured international pop and rock artists, who would typically play a 45-minute set in front of a live audience in a TV studio.
This Ohne Filter James Taylor special was recorded on March 27, 1986 and first broadcast on January 2, 1987.

He had just turned 38 (March 12) and wanted to keep the arrangement close to the hit version that was on its way to selling a million copies, while allowing his keyboard accompanist the freedom to improvise a little. His bandmates are such consumate musicians, every note sounds pre-arranged. Don't you love the young men who took all the front row seats (there's a story there!) because they LOVE James Taylor 'live.' Another favorite moment when we realize the wolf whistlers are women! So much shared joy. Thanks for sharing the video, Mr. Taylor.

I am still trying to understand the reason for this song reappearing in my life decades after I encountered it when I was just 14. I am certain there is something very significant. It touches my heart & soul so powerfully. Thank you for your amazing gifts.
