Hello Jang, I spent 5 hours to figure out that when the mini-figures are going down the second loop they would be pulling 9 Gs and 90 mph. I may of gotten that wrong.

At 2:38, I like how the chain is partially made up of large pieces that cover the bright blue elements, while the smaller pieces do not cover the blue, and so when the elevator goes up, it creates the illusion that the blue light is chasing the elevator.

I'm split on this set. The mechanism is really clever and it's very functional. But I think the price really drags it down. And I hate it because I agree, the price isn't the issue. It's big, massively engineered and clunky. I don't know how to feel about it.

That was an impressive review, Jang. The many close ups of the action from various angles is much appreciated, and, combined with your thoughts on what owning the set involves, they give a strong impression of what it is like to build and own a set like this. Thanks, Jang :)

I built this after watching several reviews so I knew about some of the potential structural issues. I decided to build it on top of 3 of legos 32x32 baseplates and this has solved basically all of the issues, I have never had to readjust anything yet and have ran it dozens of times. Great set if you have the space. Definitely grabs attention!

Like you said, the price is reasonable all things considered. I wonder how it would have turned out of they just had one loop, then it could have been shorter, cost less, and the lower forces would have helped it stay together more easily.

The engineering is wonderful, I love the look of this set. I hope someone buys two and doubles it in size lol. If I get a bonus this year I might try and buy this, I don’t “need” it but it sure is gorgeous… I’d rather this than say the oversized UCS AT-AT personally. Definitly a gun and big set here. A not only big, but very functional roller coaster that works through cranking and goes pretty fast for a toy. Would be cool to see in a LEGO environment, price is definitely as big as the set, but its not one can complain as much as others. Nice review, Jang

Dude, I built mine on a mil plate and it works great! The only problem I’m getting is chain skip. It worked great for days with zero chain skip, then all of a sudden it does it and that’s using the Large Motor with Battery Pack. When I pull up on the chain as it’s skipping it’ll stop, this tells me we need more torque or less weight being lifted. I took off 2 minifigures and that wasn’t enough and the next thing I’m trying is removing chain links or getting more powerful batteries. It definitely feels better than the original white/red coaster which I also have on a mil plate. The extra gear arm stretched all the way under the holding area makes it feel like you’re about to twist the plastic axle in half. The loop is sweet but I’d like to make it longer, but dude, these coasters smoke space and bricks!

Thanks very much indeed JANG for this pleasantly unagitated review! Again your factual and calm way of presenting and recapping this great set with all it‘s pros and cons proves me right in being your follower for many years now and (being from Germany) not only watching the local reviews here. I think you know for sure that the German LEGO „Fan“ scene is quite toxic in some way, due to whatever reasons. Many reviewers here use very click-baiting, destructive captions for their content, just to talk this impressive art of LEGO engineering down. Not you. You‘ve presented the set how it is, with everything that needs to be considered. It was very enjoyable to watch. Thanks for the continuously good content. Greeting from Bremen (Northern Germany) to the Bay Area!

I got the original rollercoaster when it came out. Quite pricey, but worth it. I ended up modding it, motorising it, and it's part of my display suite for lego shows. I mounted the whole thing on 2x big grey baseplates for stability. The coaster can wear and tear quite easily; I end up having to lubricate the track curves to stop the track and cars wearing out. I am *really* looking forward to getting my hands on this set, and intend on mounting it on baseplates again. But it won't be going to shows, unless I completely tear it down and design my own MOC coaster. Plus right now there's nowhere to put it! /sigh

Thank you for the review, Jang, and the alternate views of the train working was a really nice touch. As is often the case more than half of the comments are commenting on the price. Always with the larger sets people are complaining about the price. It's a valid concern for sure but personally it's I'm tired of reading all the time how expensive a kit is. We get it, people. Lego is expensive. I'm also into RC aircraft and I have more than a couple that cost me into the thousands so it's all relative and there are far more expensive hobbies than Lego but I never hear anybody complain about it so much as Lego fans

Honestly, I prefer the old 2018 rollercoaster one better overall. Having built it and having it as part of my city display, I really can appreciate the structural design that went into it even more (such as it splitting in half for transport) after seeing/hearing your review about this one. At least for me personally, seems like the 2018 coaster was one that really captured a charm that this one does fails to do. and in some ways it seems that more care was given to it. I know that this version is meant to be different, but at the price point I feel like it is fair to compare the two. That stability issue with time is really quite unfortunate, and in some ways suggests to me that this set was rushed to make it come on the market ASAP after the 2018 model retired. I do agree with the assessment that $400 is reasonable for this nowadays though. Impressive model indeed, just not for me.

When the set was first announced and the price was public, I didn't get the reaction a portion of the community seemed to have of it being extremely overpriced. The original roller coaster set from 2018 came with 4080 parts for $379.99 in the United States. This one, in the post-pandemic post-supply chain inflation/recession/whatever year 2022, has around 300 less pieces sure, but is still "only" $399.99 in the United States. That's $20 extra for less pieces, but added height and the last 2 and a half years of pandemic/inflation. Compared to some of the other 18+ sets released lately, I'd argue this is one of the more valuable ones. I'm not trying to defend Lego's prices, but compared to some stuff they've put out lately, I don't think this is the worst offender.

I didn't expect you to get this set, given what you said on your preview, so it's cool and a pleasant surprise that you were able to get it, thanks to your Twitch viewers chipping in. I like that extra track was included. I mentioned this on the preview video, but I wonder if someone could use the track pieces included so that this is a continuous ride, without the elevator portion, like a traditional roller coaster. I didn't expect the thing to be so finicky. That's not good for it to be so expensive AND touchy like that. Yeah, moving it would be rough. You'd have to almost maybe place a tray or something under it before you move it? Or build it on top of this tray. Then again, if you can even find something big enough!

You know, with the flag on that one minifigure's shirt the only reference i can think of is a lego reference to bionicle in a very minimalist way, the planet in bionicle was split into 3 seperate planets, a desert one, a jungle one, and the water one which is where most of the story takes place. I only thought of it cause of the flag of mars, a thing where there's a red stripe, blue stripe, and green stripe for what's hoped to be the future of mars

I’m in bag 12 as I’m watching! I’m loving the build and it looks great placed next to the previous Lego coaster set. My 6yo son is super excited to play with the finished set, maybe even more than I am! Btw: When I was in the market to buy the original coaster, I searched and watched several KZfaq reviews to learn more about it. That was the first time I discovered you and your review channel and after watching, I ordered it from Legos website. You’ve been an invaluable resource for me ever since. Still the most trusted, thorough and well rounded Lego review channel in my opinion.

It looks great but what you say about it being sensitive to movement. When it came out we went to the local Lego store and they had it on display. A kid and his mum asked the Lego personell to show it working and they couldn‘t cuz it had some parts that obviously didn‘t stick together properly. Kind of took all the magic out of it for me as a potential customer cuz while it may work when put together properly, it is also high maintenance as you said. I do have the Haunted House and that one didn‘t need any readjustment ever since it came out. Also, when I see this and then look at the new Lion‘s Castle, either one priced at 400 bucks - I think you get more for your money with the castle.

It is high priced and high maintenance. And also highly abstract in that, like the haunted house, you'll never see anything like it in real life. It's just to prove a point, that yes, Lego coasters can be designed, at the extreme extreme extreme, to do loop-the-loop. Isn't that fantastic. Lego's fun-fare sets, starting with the Fairground Mixer, were wonderful. The best was the red roller coaster. They all looked great and worked well. But the two since then are Frankenstein sets. I stopped collecting with the haunted house - they did a much better one about six years earlier with the Monster Fighters set - it actually looks like a haunted house.

Where does this set go? You literally need a Lego city and most people can’t dedicate a room or basement for lego. The fact that it can be broken down is great (Lego is great like that), but this appears to be extremely difficult to tear down and then rebuild. Perhaps a coaster set with only track pieces for a single loop design, a very simple train car, and options to build something large/medium/small with the largest option having a single loop (in the style of a creator set) would have been better. I would estimate the cost could to be around $125 since track pieces are more costly to manufacture. The train station + theme park decorations could then be designed as a separate optional purchase/set - I’d imagine that would sell decently on its own without all the track parts - like the Lego land park set from a couple of years ago (but without any coaster track parts). With a track-pieces focused set (with one loop), far more people would have the funds and space (or temporary space) for a coaster set. As it stands, I will never even consider purchasing this which is a darn shame because I would love to experience a Lego coaster with a loop like this one. It is very fun looking - and roller coasters bring a lot of excitement/fear/joy/nostalgia/wonder.

I think that this is the Lego set which really pushed the limit to what is possible for Lego Sets. And it's not without cost in both price tag and not being for average Lego fans. Needless to say that this set is NOT for the faint of heart and only for the most experienced of Master Builders. It's enormous, unwieldy to move or set up, very complex in design, it's very expensive to afford and maintain and is highly sensitive as it must be constantly watched carefully and properly maintained. But it is also phenomenally well detailed, is well worth that large price tag, and it actually works as it's supposed to. The fact that this thing was ever even possible at all, let alone sold as a regular set and not as some limited edition or exclusive promotional at select locations is truly an amazing sign of what's to come for Lego and what it is truly capable of. As your typical Lego set, yeah I can see why it gets as much flack as it does. But if you look at this thing as an actual machine as apposed to just another regular Lego set then I think it get's a 10 out of 10 simply because of what it accomplished and how much it pushed everything to the limit. And how fitting as it really is a roller coaster ride.

Will anyone who knows tell me what the width in studs from column-to-column-to-column-to-column is taken by the elevator? That is, is it 16x16, 22x30, etc?

It'll be really awesome if they could build a real world roller coaster that function like this

I don’t like the slamming part when it the elevator goes down. I tried to add weight to the counter balance and it still slams. After multiple runs, the top part started coming apart due to the vibration.

That tower is about 50% as tall as a average person. Wow, that like you said that is almost outrageus.

I'm surprised all mini figs are still alive since the ride was quite violent IMHO.
