I saw a video in which someone added extra weight to the counterweight, in order to slow down the descent of the elevator. This helped improve de reliability of the elevator not breaking down!

For the Loop Coaster I added more bricks to the counterweight so the lift platform returns to its starting point more smoothly.

I'm sorry to correct RacingBrick with a building error. The axle couplers of the wheels have been timed wrongly. You can see it at 14:11 when the wheel assembly has a jerky movement. Even out the coupler assembly movement by staggering the couplers (p/n 6335279) 90 degrees apart. An example of a correct assembly you can see in the manual of the Loop Coaster, page 546, image 3. I haven't checked this model, but there you have it. It works a treat!

The elastic band on the older one needs to be extremely tight to prevent the chain from snapping.

Have you heard about the Art Project(21226) set? It's an art set that's pretty underrated in my opinion, the main build isn't that exciting, but one of the alternative pixel arts is from a classic white space minifigure. Idk, I think it deserves some more attention.

Two years on since building Loop which has had multiple issues. It runs ok now, having had multiple modifications... I wouldn't recommend buying it.

I don't know. The newer model definetly has the edge on the looks, with a lot more complicated track paths and building designs and an arguably better minifig selection. The older model has a better overall track path and general dimensions and the "Coaster" logo is undoubtedly superior. I'm not saying the newer model's dimensions aren't impressive, but the older one makes the tracks look much longer. I feel like it would be easier to modify the older version by extending the tracks or adding more unique elements like loops and elevators. The newer model is already full of them, and seeing the same things constantly gets repetitive. I see the older version being a much better long term purchase, as someone can have a lot of fun customizing it while maintaining it as a rollercoaster. The newer version just feels like it's waiting for purchasers to buy it only for the bricks. Not that this makes the newer version any worse, I'd just go with the older one.

I would like to ask you a favor. Would you be willing to part with one of these? It's going to a great cause. My wife teaches Special Education for k through 5 th grade, alot of her students love Legos. Over the past 4 years she has had alot of donations and money spent from her own pocket. However this is the thing that's been on her list for along time and Noone has been able to come up with $599 to $799 you find these at. I can not afford it but I love to be able to surprise the students and herself for Xmas this year. I could go into more detail on how this all got started if you like.

I like them both but Lego ruined the new one with the price increase. For 400 Euros it should include a motor.

Other people have mentioned it, but noone has before demonstrated how moving lego is so failure prone. Doesn't that ruin the whole point of the set for anyone who doesn't display it in a city? It would be a very disappointing display piece if it didn't work when you went to view it.
