You should try « Nos âmes Jumelles » by Samantha Bailly ! She’s a french author pretty popular with this YA trilogy. I think (but french is my first language so I can be wrong) it’s quite easy to begin with : it’s fun, light and the friendship in this trilogy is super cool !

172 hours on the moon has some downsides but damn, it spooked me to tears. I never felt like this about any other book. And I love horror movies and 99,9% of them don't scare me at all. And not that the book was scary, but there were few quite innocent scenes that made me shake and cry. Even thinking about it gives me chills. I hope that I'm not overselling it, and I really hope that you will enjoy aspects of it, Emily. It was quite a ride for me.

The only one of those I've read is 'Dusk, or Dark, or Dawn, or Day'. It was actually my first Seanan McGuire read and I really enjoyed it. The magic confused me at first, just the way it was explained, but once I understood, it was a breeze. I like the Wayward Children series more now that I've read it, but this book is just as beautifully written. I hope you like it!

I apologize if someone has already mentioned this, there are over 200 comments and I didn't read them all. It surprised me when you said that you didn't realize Seanan McGuire had other books, she has a few series under her belt that I have really loved. She wrote a zombie series under the name Mira Grant called the Newsflesh trilogy, which was how I discovered her. I LOVED these books. It follows a brother/sister newsblogging team as they travel around in the zombie infested near future. Also, she has the Parasitology trilogy. In these books, set in the future where humanity has found a way to create a parasite that once inserted into the body, cures everything and keeps humans healthy forever. Then of course, things go horribly wrong. I enjoyed this one, too. Not as much as Newsflesh, but that's just personal preference- Parasitology is more science driven, like OMG what have we done/created?! and the other one seems more "plausible" if you will. Like most trilogies, I found the 2nd book in both kinda dragged, but again, that's typical. Then writing under Seanan McGuire, she has the October Daye series, of which I own but have yet to read (book hoarder problems) which is an urban fantasy which deals with the world of the Fae, I believe. There's also the InCryptid series about monsters or creatures of legend and the humans trying to protect them from being hunted down and killed- pretty sure I've got that right. Again, never read, own some. And then she has some stand alone novels (I read Sparrow Hill Road, about a ghost girl, and enjoyed that, too) and tons of short stories all over the net and in anthologies. So far, I haven't read anything by her that I've disliked. Sure, I don't fall in love with every single one, but I am always intrigued and impressed by how her mind works and the crazy shit that she can come up with. By the way, I did like Dusk or Dark or Dawn or Day. I have seen some Booktubers who thought it was "dark" or "weird" but those are like, my favorite words, haha, so I enjoyed it. I find that with her, you just have to go along. Let her take your hand and lead you to fantastical worlds where you meet some fucked up characters, and just enjoy the trip! Sorry this is so long!

But then I googled and you're kinda right, or there are a lot but their books don't make the mainstream. 2018 the year i'll look out for more women sci-fi writers! I just started watching this channel from your Christmas book hall (even though I've been subscribed to your beauty channel for ages). You've introduced me to booktube and I love it! I read a lot at work and so have been struggling to read in my spare time, but I'm now fully back into it so, thanks! Anyway, main reason for this comment, you were saying you want to read more YA sci-fi and I would recommend the Across the Universe series. There's also some mystery and dystopia in there too. Hope you check it out and enjoy it :) x

Have you read “these broken stars” from amie Kaufman and Megan spooner? It’s a YA sci-fi trilogy and it was pretty good, I think you’d enjoy it.
