In this episode, we had the incredible opportunity to explore the Railway Museum in Omiya, Saitama, often regarded as Japan's premier railway museum. As expected from the nation's top railway museum, the experience was rich and diverse, featuring attractions like the SL Simulator, conductor experiences, the breathtaking rotation of the steam locomotive turntable, and a delightful lunch in the dining car. The museum is so extensive that a single day might not be enough to cover everything.
While entrance tickets are available on-site, you can save on costs by purchasing advance tickets, taking advantage of group discounts (for 20 or more people), or exploring well-known ticket shops and online marketplaces. For specific experiences like the SL Simulator, an exclusive app is used for a lottery system, and participating in the lottery is essential as slots fill up quickly, even on weekdays. The 205 series, 211 series, and E233 series simulators are available on a first-come, first-served basis on weekdays.
Our adventure also includes exploring the expansive diorama, reviewing the museum shop, witnessing the coupling demonstration of the 200 series Shinkansen, capturing the essence of the first-generation Shinkansen, and observing passing Shinkansen trains.

SL Simulator Experience: 25 minutes
Open on non-holidays and days other than Tuesday, from 10:00 to 17:00.
Admission Fee: 1,330 yen (Adults), 620 yen (Children/Students), 310 yen (3 years and above)
Simulator Fee: 510 yen (SL, Conductor Experience, E5 Shinkansen, Mini Driving Train)
Hamburg Demi-Glace Sauce: 1,980 yen, Salad and Drink Set: 500 yen, Red Wine: 580 yen (All prices as of January 2024)
Location: 1 minute walk from Railway Museum Station, 1 station from Omiya Station via New Shuttle (Saitama Prefecture)

amazing how they show how everything works. It even shows a bit of training they need to do to work on trains. When i go to a museum in the Netherlands you get to see things and no the era but this is on another level! They even show you the motors and you can operate them. Amazing!

This was the most amazing train museum I've ever seen. I could easily spend all day enjoying the various exhibits. The interactive train driving simulator was sugoi. I'm so glad that you were able to experience it. It seems like it would be a fun thing to do. The steam locomotive simulator was very interesting, and you're a quick learner. You'd be a good driver. I was glad to see many people enjoying the museum, especially the little children, who are always so adorable when they excitedly watch the model trains travel around the diorama. I hope to visit this museum one day. Arigatougozaimasu for introducing me to this great train experience. 👍🇯🇵🚅

Спасибо! Очень интересный железнодорожный музей. Я была в нем в 2017 году. С тех пор очень произошло много изменений, появились новые экспонаты да и территория музея стала кажется больше. Для меня этот музей на первом месте. На втором - железнодорожный музей в Санкт-Петербурге. На третьем - музей в городе Утрехт Нидерланды.

Sarei molto felice se potessi goderti anche un po' quello che ho vissuto🚂✨Il simulatore della locomotiva a vapore è stata un'esperienza che può essere vissuta solo qui, ed è stata un'esperienza di 25 minuti che non dimenticherò mai! Sono stata in questo posto circa 5 volte finora, ma è un posto paradisiaco in cui voglio andare ancora molte altre volte😁Sì! Ci rivediamo presto 📹😊

The Yamanote Line is a must for getting around Tokyo ☺️ It's a lot of fun as it goes around in circles! I even took a detour on the Yamanote Line on purpose because I needed some sleep 😂💦

@@Choo-ChooTravel 私は75歳です。高校生の時に軽2輪（250ccまで乗れる）免許をここで取りました。その2年後には試験場が荒川の河川敷に移設され軽4輪免許をそこで取得しました。軽4輪免許を取得すると大型2輪免許が自動的に付いてました。ですから試験受けてないのにナナハンに乗ってました。試験場の前には「あんちょこ屋」があってお金を払えば当日の試験内容を教えてくれました。今の試験場は鴻巣です。
