I visited the Omiya Bonsai Museum in 2019 because of this video. It's a really lovely place and accessible by train from Tokyo. Thank you, John!

The bonsai can tell us so much just from looking at them. Could you imagine if they could talk, what they could tell us about its life and so many other amazing things.
@TheAmymeowcat4 жыл бұрын
That's so what I was thinking! Imagine if they could talk, what else they could teach us?
@gregritenour99104 жыл бұрын
@@TheAmymeowcat great minds think alike and if they could talk i would want to know literally everything that its experience throughout its life up to this point and if it would decide to tell me i would be stuck there on a bench listening and hanging on every word unless i needed food, water or to use the bathroom but after i was done doing whatever i had to do while i was away doing one of those things i would absolutely have to go back to hear more i wouldn't be able to leave till it finished and i ask alot of questions throughout about the stories.

Me too! Most of these tress were born before the USA was a country! The 1000 year old tree, during the age of the Roman Empire!?? Crazy to think about that.
@gregritenour99104 жыл бұрын
@@onlyinjapanGO thats amzing and just to think about it being that old is crazy but also so amazing being we only have so many items that were dug up from those sites and to see something still living from that time period is stunning.
@TheAmymeowcat4 жыл бұрын
I agree 100% Greg, I would be hanging on every word. It blows my mind to think of all the things those trees have collectively experienced. One of the things I love so much about the Japanese culture is their appreciation and respect for nature. Those trees are so awe inspiring. I would love to sit in that garden on a nice day and just listen to them, or read, or take the inspiration to try to write.

Love Bonsai, so therapeudic.. By the way, I'm going to Japan on Monday, will the weather continue to rain? Though hoping to be able to get autumn views. But I think it will be difficult with the weather that is still hot.

The cultural episodes never really do well. It’s a shame. People are drawn to food and fun. But there’s something fun and useful to connect all the other stuff and knowing the culture is the bridge to everything connected with Japan. More to come!

John do you know if they bring the trees inside when the storms are too strong?
@TheAmymeowcat4 жыл бұрын
What are the little white tea bag looking things on the bases of the trees outside? Is it some form of fertilizer or something? I notice some had them some didn't. Absolutely wonderful video John. About to crash and super relaxing energy perfect to go to bed to. Keep up the great work man!
@onlyinjapanGO4 жыл бұрын
Maybe a soft fertilizer or to keep it moist? The typhoon would have kept it moist today!!

I bought a Japanese maple tree and turned it into Bonsai while I was in college. I kept training it for the next 10 years, or so. Then I got married and life got hectic, so the bonsai was getting neglected. Eventually, it died after entrusting the watering job to my wife. Not her fault, but the soil got too dry, such that the water wouldn't soak into the soil and simply bypass the soil and out the bottom. They're almost like caring for a pet. You need to water them daily and trim the roots as they get impacted.
@nicolaslanario75824 жыл бұрын
what kind of bonsai is that
@Spookssga4 жыл бұрын
I did something similar years ago with a pine tree, but sadly it died because it was sitting in too much water for too long.

What you see on camera isn’t how people really are and he does do a lot of good, although sometimes he’s quite silly. I don’t watch a lot of KZfaq but what he wants to do for this - plant 20M trees 🌲 is a nice idea 💡 and I can’t “not” support that, right? It also feels nice to be a part of something big like this, not just him but many big channels!
