This is the Gold Kankiri made my Prince which is almost identical to the Gangy Kankiri. The Gold Kankiri is red but an orange version was release by he trendy fashion company BEAMs as a collaboration.

Yep the industrial look. The fancy ones always get gunk stuck in the mechanics

I wasn't sure how you would use a can opener without the typical handle/knob to turn the the cutting wheels. I think that I might prefer this to the typical can openers in America. Thanks for sharing your video.

Thanks. Its one of those odd items that seems to have a cult following. Even the upmarket Beams fashion chain have released their version of it.

Noticed Gangy Shinkosha Idea No.300 is very good Quality and Durability . If their trademark of an ( S ) is inside of a square on the opener , it is the best ! $8.00 on Amazon . The all stainless steel model , Suten Gangy Ideal , $8.75 plus tax Amazon Made in Japan . The stainless steel version is a strong value . 12/22

I got that one from a store called 212 Kitchen Store. store.world.co.jp/s/brand/212kitchenstore/ They sell them in the kitchen shops but I'm not sure its on their website. Amazon jp have the similar ones: amzn.to/3gcmpbT amzn.to/3v64KXj they are almost exactly the same.

Cool opener, very retro and super simple. Not a very good design if your left handed though, I wonder if they make a southpaw version.

Oh Good point. For some they are extremely popular. Often sold out. I guess they last a long time, and good for restaurant etc. as indestructible.

Yep not much to look at but Somehow it’s retro design became iconic. I guess like a classic coke bottle or something. Maybe it reminds people of an earlier time.
