You guys did a great job! Especially for not using spray foam before. I run an insulation company for a living. We use these kits quite a bit. These are the same kits that professionals use. Just a few tips. PPE - always wear a full face mask and never take your mask off inside the room or building you are spraying. Also, the two chemicals mix and form an exothermic chemical reaction. It uses the heat to expand which gives you your depth an R value. You should be spraying in about 1” passes meaning you spray enough foam that it expands to 1”. If you spray too thin it won’t expand correctly. You can also use acetone (or Great Stuff cleaner) to clean the gun and clean out the tips so you can reuse them. Just a few tips.

This guys knows his stuff. I have done a lot of this spray myself. you have to get the hang of spraying slower to get it to expand right. You could put down 2.5 inches in your wall with one pass. Also yes face mask is a must.

I watched your video yesterday and I just want to say I think you did a good job. I love to see the teamwork between the two of you as brothers. It's always amazing to see what you guys not only do but how well you get the job done. I know in our home we have done many different things over the years not spray foam but we have tackled many different things some that people wouldn't do but you know what we got it done and it works well. You might find there's some things that you'll do different but you know what I give you too much credit for trying you're doing things I know many of my family who are very handy would not try so I say you're doing fantastic

Just so you know, when you're standing inside without a mask even though you're not spraying it, those aerosolized droplets can still enter your respiratory system as small particles. Please take care of yourself. YOu might think you're strong but you could pay the price later in life. You showed an example of how it drifted outside onto your power banks. It's the same concept for your lungs! You're doing a super job with your shed to home too.

Yeah, the vapors released from the reaction between the two chemicals can literally be absorbed by your eyeballs. You're supposed to wear a full face respirator when spraying the stuff. It's a great product when cured completely, BUT it's nasty when it's curing...
@SegoMan
@SegoMan Жыл бұрын
@@johnuppole once the reaction takes place in the alveoli in the lungs it will never leave, I know of a painter who's life changed overnight because he did not want to wear a respirator while spraying 2 part epoxies. I saw no agitation of the tanks those chemicals need mixed properly. Doing the ceiling first would give you more pressure. Not wearing all the safety gear is your choice however when you post a video on it it sends the wrong message to the rest of the crowd.

If you can rent or borrow one; a 6 foot Baker style rolling scaffold is the way to go for doing all of the overhead work. Easy to transport and set-up, they are also relatively inexpensive, and come in handy for a wide variety of indoor and outdoor building projects. And in a lot of instances, they are also safer to use than ladders, (as long as you don't accidently step off of it and land on your face).

I’m a spray foam contractor and everytime I quote a job my price is the same if not cheaper than the froth packs and that’s installed! Not to mention we have a superior product (actual 2lbs foam) you can notice the difference by just squeezing the foams in your hand. I have never encountered a froth pack foam that was even similar to the density of foam we spray. I’ve also seen a lot of bad froth pack DIY installs that we’ve had to go over or entirely remove (foam shrinks, delaminates, cracks or just won’t mix properly) Some people think the board feet labeled on these tanks will be sufficient for their project until they realize it’s only measured in 1” increments Lesson is don’t buy this stuff without at least getting a couple estimates from your local contractors and then weigh your options on whether or not it’s worth it for you to take the time to install it and factor in the fumes overspray you will deal with

If you ever do this in the future, start a stud bay by spraying up both sides of the bay. Then fill the center. This generally results in better air sealing at the stud and prevents it from pulling back from the stud (and you can see in some of the close-ups). Otherwise, nice efficient use of the foam.
