I saw him race at Hockenheim. Right away I knew he was special. Like when I saw Roberts, Spencer, Lawson, Rainey, Read, and Sheene. I didn't see Vale. But Jarno was one of the best of all time. HOF. Flying Finn.

Jarno Saarinen was to Finland what Johnny Cecotto was to Venezuela: they both put their respective countries in the vicinity of motorcycle races, sports that before them did not interest. Do you imagine that they had run in the same category? A pity Saarinen had died so young when he could have won many world championships! Greetings from Venezuela

Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia´s quotation: "Jarno Saarinen's legacy continues to live on. There is still an active Saarinen fan club in Italy. The birth name Jarno became very popular in Italy of many newborn boys in the '70s. One of them is Jarno Trulli, the former Formula-1 driver. Saarinen remains the only Finn to have won a motorcycle road racing world championship, winning 15 Grand Prix during his career. In 2009, the F.I.M. inducted Saarinen into the MotoGP Hall of Fame"
