I am at day 1,006 of my sobriety journey and his comment about having a bad day and not being able to go home and have a drink hit me right in the feels. Being sober and having to deal with all of life’s emotions is the most difficult thing I’ve ever experienced. Especially being alone.

The man I am in love with brought me to sobriety and to Jason’s music. Sadly I wasn’t sober yet when we fell in love and I messed up before I was ready to get sober and see what was in front of me for what it was and now I just miss him every second. We tried but damage had already been done and we couldn’t overcome it. Somehow in that while I’ve had a couple of brief one time relapses, I’ve managed to stay sober through losing him. I struggle every moment I miss him, which is always. But I can’t betray him again by going back to what caused my betrayal. I’m very grateful to him for introducing me to Jason and Amanda and DBT. The music helps me still feel connected to my ex when I’m having moments of weakness and he was my strength.

I was fortunate enough to get to see Jason Isbell perform in August at a small venue. He was a stones throw away from me and it didn't cost me a fortune for the tickets. He is such a talented writer and performer and really connects with his fans.

Funny, when I saw him last month he said, "People call me a country singer, but how can I be that? I write my own songs! Guess I'm a folk singer." Regardless of categories -- fantastic writer and performer.

This is going to be incredible. For all of Jason's absurd talents as a lyricist, Amanda Shires can cut right through them and match him word for word. Listen to The Flagship and Fault Lines back to back. "And the character you wrote yourself out to be the Flagship All part of my fooling" oof.

This was excellent ! It was real. I I don't care what you do for a living. If you work with your partner or don't, it becomes a struggle either way. Even if you seem to be the most perfectly matched couple. You both need a shift from your routine. It could be time with your family & friends, your pets, what ever, you just need a break from what ever consumes you. On another note, the music was wonderfull.

This is pure pretentiousness. What are we doing? I love Isbell as a songwriter, but I don't think his suffering stacks up to the suffering that some people actually have. Why is there a documentary about a person that has more than anyone I've ever known, but he can still claim he's suffering for the music?

This guy is incredibly talented. It's too bad he alienated a huge cohort of his fanbase a couple years ago when he became one of the most militant and outspoken members of the Branch Covidian cult. It might've softened things a bit if he had turned out to be on the right side of history, but history hasn't been very kind to that particular brand of hysteria. It's a real shame to see someone as gifted as him hobble his promising career over such nonsense.
