This was the best phase of Shrinath's career, though not the quickest. Like Zaheer in the second half of his career, Shrinath had developed an optimal understanding of his own game, the pitch, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of the opponent. And the Zimbabwe team was almost as good as they ever had - although Neil Johnson and Murray had left. Zimbabwe was competitive until after the 2003 World Cup, when Andy Flower and others retired, thanks to their policy.

at that time indian feilding was so poor i hv seen so many catches dropped by indian fielders specially in slips srinath would hv atleast 50 wickets or more in test cricket had indian slip cordan not missed those drop catches.

Andy flower was most underrated cricketer ever.. His average in test is 51 ..and he batted at number 5-6 ..and he played against good bowling as compared to other batsman because he didn't scored against Zimbabwe ..as a Zimbabwe player he always played better bowlers.. He can be in any all time great test team as a wicket keeper batsman

After 1999 wc he lost his speed but arrival of zaheer khan helped team india a lot he always had that vicious bouncer even when he was bowling 80 mph

It was Ahmedabad test 1996 agaist south africa..where he took 6/21..he took 3 times 2 consecutive wickets..

That's what made him a little more than a mediocre bowler. Kept saying that he wouldn't be playing cricket forever so should concentrate on his engineering studies too. These are days when if you don't give it your all you'll end up a loser in cricket. Glen McGrath who started after him overtook him by leaps & bounds. So did even Chaminda Vaas.

@Prabal Goel he was a top tier perhaps in India where all want to become batsmen or spinners because we have been found wanting wherever physical effort is needed, especially in those days. If you compare him with his peers he is way behind. In fact in most other countries he would not even have found a place in the teams. He let India down more often than win matches. I am from the same state as he is, so wouldn't be saying this unless I knew what I am saying
