Same here. Had my locks for 19yrs. Since my son was a baby (he’s 23 now) and most of my 20yr relationship with my wife. Rocked it in dozens of ways but after awhile it got a little thin at the top and it was time for a change. I began to feel like a slave to my look and how much people loved my dreads.

At least some did comb twists or coil twists as a style without locking it because the longer they grow the harder it can be to manage it also once they lock you cant take them out like braids and put it back in a afro. You have to cut them individually.

I remember some years ago like 2009 he tweeted he was growing dreads on April Fools day 😂 now he really has them and they look good in this clip they fit him. I was so used to his money cut it made me more confident to wear my cuts closer as to having thick waves. Hovs always had the neatest cuts and nails 👌🏾💜
