1ST TEST MATCH SRI LANKA vs INDIA AUGUST 2-6 1997 at Colombo.India bat first and get 537/8. Sri Lanka start their innings on the 2nd day in the third session. What follows next is unimaginable for India as Sanath Jayasuriya produces a masterpiece and stitches a world record breaking partnership with Roshan Mahanama. India are punished on the field for 4 days as Jayasuriya and Mahanama stay unbeaten and Sri Lanka do not lose a wicket for 2 days. I remember this I was just seven years old and started watching cricket with my dad and this came up I thought how can one batsman score these many runs he must be the world's best batsman and he was in 1997. THANK YOU SUHAS CRICKET FOR BRINGING BACK MY CHILDHOOD

I prayed prayed and prayed for a day to dismiss jayasuriya.. But on the next day the case was reverse...🤣 I prayed and prayed not to dismiss him...and I enjoyed a lot with every shot of jayasuriya..😂

We didnt have a TV in our home.i used to go to nearby home to watch matches.exact on these days there was a funeral on that home.but we managed to move the TV to a another room and watched the whole match.i was in funeral for all 5 days.sweet memories .thank you #Sanathjayasuriya "the Matara Mouler"

Personally for me I called such long innings in test matches are selfish innings not result oriented or innings for team victory . I saw many batsman they were not out on 200 or somewhere but they went for declaration so their team will won . Jayasuriya was greatest batsman of srilanka but I rated this inning as a selfish inning not great inning .

Pitch had Nothing for the bowlers seriously !!!! Indians got out while trying to accelarate 1.5 days , 539 3.5 days they scored 952 seriously boring test match , indians missed Srinath here badly !!!! Bowlers were main reasons india used to fail those days !!!
