saw another comment say this: make your old original mural in rug form! it would be so cool with lots of interesting characters to tuft and a lot of detail could be included with a large scale :) It also maybe wouldn't be too intimidating to try something so huge if you are familiar with what you are creating !

The fact that he saw another creator post a similar video and he just got excited about how much fun they must have had based solely on how much he enjoyed the process is why so many ppl love jazza. He is genuinely kind and creative and it bleeds out through his videos. It’s what brings so many back to your videos over and over. 💜

A little help If you’re considering dabbling w it in the future again. 1:Instead of shaving the long strings of, you can just pull them out and if you end up collecting enough you can use it at a pillow filling or something similar, or just throw it out. 2: instead of cutting the cloth up to the yarn you’re supposed to leave like an inch outside of it, that you glue to the back of the rug, either with spray adhesive or with a glue gun or similar.

I love that Jazza essentially speedruns the history of artistic mediums. yes he could just follow instructions entirely but, showing us why concessions are made, why decisions are made when it comes to these mediums is important. it's entertaining but, shows how these things had to develop to get here as well.

Jazza, my Grandma taught me this craft when I was a little girl in the 1960s. However, the materials were simpler. Grandma used hessian, recycled from sacks that had held chook feed. The tool was a simple brass hollow needle of about 15cm with a beveled end which pierced the hessian. Before starting, she threaded the wool (which would have been left over from a garment that she’d knitted) through the top end of the brass needle until it emerged from the bottom, pointy end. The wool was in a hand wound ball in her basket. I remember there was a screw on the side of the needle which adjusted the tension. I’m sure Grandma used a frame but I can’t remember it. I do remember the pretty punched wool rugs on the floor of her kitchen, which she backed with, probably, more recycled hessian. I really enjoyed your video but I can hear Grandma turning in her grave at the thought of spending $1000 on the set up. (She lived through the Great Depression and was still saving cotton wool from pill bottles in the 1980s. She was also from a German family and you didn’t waste anything.) As a maker all my life, I happily put my hand up and admit to jumping on the latest fad and spending far too much on stuff. That’s why they invented Marketplace!

Can’t believe you and Nerdforge dropped twin videos in the same week, that’s epic😂 And not to hate, Jazza, but watching you flounder so much in the beginning really made me appreciate how much planning and studying Martina put in to her creation. Your rugs came out wonderful, I’m sure your kiddos are super excited by their new floor ornamentation😁 If you do make a massive rug I hope you hang it like a tapestry during your wintery June and July months. My suggestion would be to stick with the stained glass aesthetic cause it really works well with this medium, and to do either a Godzilla vs Kong scene or a Pacific Rim Kaiju battle.

I had just come over from NerdForge to watch this, and was thinking this must be the new youtube obsession! I love both your channels though, and both your projects were awesome! I'm really into abstract art, and illusion stuff, as well as pixel art and vector art, wide range of tastes, but anything covering those topics would be great. Of course, I'm gonna watch everything you do anyway! 😁

I've been wanting to try this!!!!! Thank you for doing this because it is helpful to see the mistakes and then getting the right tools and stuff.

Very cool and ambitious. Looks like you learned a lot about yourself and tufting. Thanks for hanging in there and giving us a great result.

What a redemption arc! And TY for always including your early struggles when you try a new craft. Sometimes the simple-looking things have a steep learning curve and that's okay!
