Hi Chase, thank you for making this subject so accessible. I don’t want to open up old wounds but, I was horrified by Peter Farrell’s rude and abusive comments to subscribers on his channel and explained that not one penny of my money is going to him. Naturally, he deleted my comment, the subscriber’s legitimate question and his godawful graceless reply. Thank you for making GB’s music accessible to all in an intelligent and professional manner.

I’ve very briefly considered using Peter Ferrell as a gateway to George Bensons methods and techniques, but his massive ego also deterred me and I decided it will never be worth it. Won’t get a dime from me, or many musicians for that matter. But with his attitude he probably doesn’t care which is also fine I guess.

Good afternoon. Great to see you again. Two of them guys you associate with your new teaching program, personally, I would strongly recommend your listeners to check out. Of course your teacher. As I mentioned to you before, I got hip to him during the pandemic. The other guy is Rodney. Very likely he wouldn’t remer me. Suffice to say we played together. Also have a very funny story of him and from the days he was Diz’s guitarist. He was real young then. The other guys I don’t know them, but if they are bunched the two I know and recommend, it’s a monster lineup!! Will keep checking on you, Bro. Stay Blessed.

Thanks, Chase. Your lessons are always amazing! I like that you introduced the idea of related chord arpeggios. I’m traveling without my guitar, but will be home later today to try it out. Can’t wait. I think the “wrong” (outside) notes are the spice that makes jazz sound so awesome.

IF that works for you. - fine - coming from harmonically expanded R&B [ which means closer to the beat hard swing ] [ Brecker / Benson ] type time feel - I alternate all the time arpeggios / lines / skips / much easier on the brain - people ask about sweeping and assume I must be but I am not. I love George Benson - the most passionate of all Jazz Guitarists and a musical genius . But just remember time feel is enabled by your picking not caused by it. So IF you can get the sweep thing natural without thinking about it - fine. We can have some fun challenges...when I debut some 'new music.'.. I like the Musicality of your playing and concepts ..and interpreting GB ... But picking - has to be ' wreckless precision ' .Thoughtless.

Sweeping down the arpeggio isn't so hard when you get the hang of it but sweeping up is very difficult, which I don't think Benson does so much, that's more of a Gambale thing. I usually sweep down some arpeggios and play some more chromatic bebop scale Martino kind of lines going up.
@grantgre
@grantgre 4 күн бұрын
so what you're saying here is, George Brunson is a geniu is almost superhuman. and let's be honest most people are not gonna be able to play like that ever. And that's George Benson his prime. And sure that's a little different than what you can play now. But The observation that music sounds different when you played fast versus slow as aconcept concept because if you play something wrong kind of ignore or not depending on what you play so it's a experiments and sound.
