Stainless fasteners without any anti seize is a recipe for thread galling.

I have the RSI Smartcap and my fridge is in the same location. I use a Rough Country slide as its affordable and nice and smooth. I have Molle panels on the back and driver side. I never thought of airing down the spare to get it in there..no idea why - but now i know what i have to do. I use my Jackery to power the fridge. Jackery is connected to the AC outlet. Nice video as always Casey!

Just back from PNW, wow what a blast! Yeah, I have a molle panel inside my bed too. It has a shovel lashed to it along with a couple of jerry cans and a folding toilet. The molle panels are terrific for things you don't want flying around the bed of the truck. Edit: I didn't know Chef Jon was with you guys at PNW, otherwise he would have got lunch too. Sorry, man!

i spend weeks on the trail with my fridge running non stop, i run 4 25 wt pod lifgts 2 12 vlt coin lights and 6 led bed mounted led strips, and charge phones, devos light ranger all from 200 wt 10bb solar pannel with 20 wt charge controller with no problums at all i have a 100 ah agm battery in a battery box mounted in the bed,that is stand alone and not hooked to gladiator electrical at all🤷 i mounted a marine switch pannel in bed with 12 vlt plugs and usb and usb c on it with 6 switches for all the lights🤙 all works flaelessly and fridge runs non stop and never shut off

It’s coming along. I feel your pain a bit, as a truck bed is so different from a wrangler storage-wise. I went with a bedslide rather than a small fridge slide, but your huuuuuge spare obviously wouldn’t fit (I’m on baby 37’s so my spare still fits underneath). Even then, my Truma 69 fridge is a little tall and I can only 1/2 open the lid. First world problems for sure 😂

Getting personal, but I’m 6’2” and sadly the old toes were hitting the roof of a Capit tent when I tried one out. Too bad, cause the price point was great (and I liked the brown canvas version).

Honestly I’ve heard great things from guys who don’t carry a spare and only have a very extensive tire repair kit; plugs, patches, glues, valve stems, bead lock bolts, the works essentially. Save you a ton of weight and room

Solid video dude! When wrapping the wiring with electrical tape, I found using plastic wiring conduit from lordco was a game changer. Super cheap and easier to access in case you need to change the wiring or fix a problem. Just a thought!

You mean wire loom stuff? it gets gross and cracks over long exposure to heat. I try to stick to tessa tape which keeps more of an OEM look and is simple to peel off and redo if needed.

@@Casey250 Hmm I've wired my entire rock crawler with it and haven't had a problem getting gross or cracked. Search waytek corrugated loom. Temp rated for 125 °c. Looks good and sorta finished to an OEM look

Get a heavy duty steel bumper with tire rack to hold the spare. That’s definitely what I would recommend. It will free up all the bed space. 😉👍🏻

i simply just put a 200 wt solar pannel on top of tent and hooked to a 20amp renogy charge controller hooked to a 100 am hr agm battery 🤷 all stand alone and runs fridge and all lifgting flawlessly🤷🤷 and real simple😎

Stainless bolts will gall and seize and snap every time, that's how she goes. Use never seize.

Looks like maybe those snapped bolts were zinc maybe and not stainless steel?

@@Casey250 just going off the fact that it was being loosened mostly by hand it appeared. And that the channel it was in didn’t seem to fail. But don’t know either just speculating.

Probably just poor quality, some sort of unrated stainless fasteners or overtorqued during install. Stainless is very sensitive to torque...

Bolts are chineseum PB (peanut butter) grade. Get you some Grade 6 bolts and nuts from Ace.

I don't feel the gladiators frames are durable enough to support a load bouncing on it from a large spare tire.

Curious why you didn’t go with the Modcap Cabin instead? That way you would have access to your bed from inside the truck bed. Cost perhaps?

A few reasons. The mod cap just came out, not sure they are in Canada yet. It's heavy. It really doesn't do well for storing my spare. It's heavier. I can't test rtts on it. I really like the Mod cap, but maybe for a different build.
