I just leased a 2023 Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve 4xe. Yes the MSRP was $81,000. Yes I was shocked by the price. I originally started the process by looking at a less expensive model in the Grand Cherokee line but with a lease credit of $7,500 on the 4xe plus several other rebates and incentives, the lease payment was extremely reasonable. Much less than the competing luxury models that you mentioned in the video. It’s a handsome and luxurious SUV and very comfortable. Keeping my fingers crossed on reliability. Thanks for a great video.

@Maxwell Adams I wouldn't trust a Hyundai even next to a Jeep. If you have to literally avoid certain model years because of catastrophic engine failure and the dealers have a hard time getting replacement engines. It's difficult to look at the Palisade as an option when they do that. Jeep might have its own issues, but catastrophic engine failure isn't one of them. Not to mention if you want to go down a proper trail or a muddy forest road even a Summit Reserve still has a low range t-case, rear limited slip, and air suspension.

Everyone acting like Jeeps could never command high pricing: Did you live through the 90s? Cherokees, Grand Cherokees, and old Wagoneers were all over the fanciest neighborhoods, just like Mercedes Wagons, Volvos, and Range Rovers. Lol@ talking about reliability then bringing up German vehicles. Note: I've owned and done significant repairs on enough German vehicles to know what they are and what they are not.

@@jermainec2462 When the Wagoneer Limited first came out they were most definitely 'fancy'. Jeep Wagoneer Limited was what started the luxury SUV craze. Not many made a fullsize SUV, let alone an SUV with power seats with full leather air/con, cruise control, forged aluminum wheel, full disc brakes, am/fm/cb radio, power locks, leather wrapped steering wheel, and a fulltime 4-wheel drive that had automatic hubs. Not to mention a big 6.6liter V8. This was the standard options list in 1978. They were fancy.

If this is the Trailhawk version you can not compare it to BMW or Mercedes. This is an offroad machine with increasing ground clearance the only comparison is the range rover which I believe is even more expensive so be carefull you need to compare apple to apple and not to tomato? But I agree the price is quite high. I drive the smaller Compass with similar features and would not exchange it for any other car such as BMW or Mercedes or Audi!

Thanks for this review. My wife drives a '12 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit. We've loved this vehicle. It's fuel economy sucks, but everything else has worked perfectly for eleven years. The 4xe was on our radar as a potential replacement, but at those prices we will certainly be checking out other options. Side note...You may recall (previous post) that I had a '12 Charger SRT8 that was also a wonderful vehicle, but moved on to a '22 M550i, and loved your review on that. Several thousand miles later, I'm still in love with it, though it didn't come with some of the options that should be standard...360 camera and adaptive cruise control. And I do miss my heated/chilled cup holders...the Bimmer holders are poorly placed.

So… I had one and returned it because the added benefit of the hybrid is a major detriment for anyone taking road trips. The engine doesn’t charge the battery so it require plugging in every night for a long time which is completely inconvenient. So what you are really getting is a 4 cylinder suv which is woefully underpowered for such a heavy car. And to boot the MPG sucks.

Greetings from Germany. I just purchased a 4xe Summit Reserve and it costs more than 100k EURO in Germany. It is the third Jeep GC in a row and I was never disappointed. Reliability has never been an issue although parts can be a problem in GY. I could easily get an X% etc for that money but I don‘t want that. Jeep is positioned higher in the German market than in the US and prices start at around 80k Euro but more importantly you get much more character from a GC than an X5. X5s and alike are nothing special in Germany and German cars have lost o lot of character over the past years. American cars have significantly improved on quality though at the same time.

Good Morning MotoMan...the prices of the 4xe are sincerely overpriced but the same trims with the 3.6 v6 or the 5.7 v8 are far more reasonable and deeply discounted. Also there is a great amount of inventory almost 5 months worth both 22 and 23 year models..If most consumers can stay away from 4xe powertrains...there are some great deals...from $50,000 to 60,000 for Summit/Summit Reserve trim...In this price range the Jeep Grand Cherokee is far more palatable considering the flaws one may or may not face during the course of ownership...Just my humble opinion from browsing inventory within 500 miles of SoCal...Bisbeta!

Jeep has really stepped up their game on interiors, but I can't imagine a universe where I would shell out $80k for a rapidly depreciating Jeep with a dubious quality reputation. There are far too many options in this segment for this to be priced anywhere close to where it is. I foresee many incentive dollars being poured onto these vehicles from Stellantis in the near future just to get them to move off the lots. Also, I don't think a buyer at this price point is going to want a buzzy 4-cyl as the gas motor.

MSRP may be in the same range, but that's just the buy in. When it comes time to repair, the Jeep (as well as other domestic brands) will be less expensive to repair and maintain (non-warranty). Also, these Jeeps are now heavily discounted if you shop around. Other brands (including the larger domestic SUVs like the GM trio and Expys) seem to be stuck at MSRP+. And I just can't see buying the Benz, BMW and Audi vehicles in the same range and getting them dirty. Seems uncivilized. Owning this I think is part of the buyers agreement.

I think the marketplace is making your point. The GCs are heavily discounted these days while the more upscale foreign brands are not. IMO there are buyers that would expect to use GCs for some offroad driving while the foreign luxury brands would never touch dirt. Except the new 2024 Land Cruiser based Lexus GX, which ought to.

Had a 2017 GC Overland with the V6…was 51k. Wow how things have changed. Bidenflation??? 😅

The price tag is worth it. It puts some Asian luxury SUVs to shame. The interior and tech are what you expect from a 100k car The fact that jeep is making their cars this upscale showcases how far they’ve come and the cliche that jeeps are junk ooh adds to your ignorance

Motoman's exact words: "Reliability - not their strong point."
@naveenthemachine

@@notsodelusional well motoman is missing the point. Reliability shouldn’t matter since every car is reliable for a few years. Plus this is a very expensive car. If you can afford to spend that kind of money reliability shouldn’t be a concern

@@naveenthemachine Most people are going to finance or lease, but they still don't want to have to deal with a vehicle with poor build / reliability issues.

@@notsodelusional if you lease the car any quality issues will be taken care of. Plus even if you buy you’re not going to have reliability the second you leave the lot or even after a month of owning it. It just doesn’t happen.

@@naveenthemachine Come on. You know that Stellantis / Jeep has far more lemon law complaints per vehicle sold than other auto makers. I need to check, but GM, Ford, and Stellantis are high on that list.
