A majority of ride quality comes from your coils. Shocks will just smooth out your ride. If you're feeling like monotubes are a bit rough, it's probably because your coils are too firm.

@@litoornelas6409 Well, I wound up going with Rubicon Express 2 1/2” lift. I also opted for their heavy duty shocks. The Jeep is quite stiff riding but when I load it down with 2 people, luggage for a 2 week trip, some tools, cooler and other necessary Items it rides pretty good. Going to try to get back to Colorado and Utah this Sept to see how much difference there is on the trails with the lift and 37” tires as compared to when it was stock. If I were to change 1 thing it would be to go with a lighter shock like the Fox that comes with the Mopar Lift. There are more choices in lift kits now than when I did mine....

@wayalife
@wayalife 6 жыл бұрын
Any Jeep with that much gear will see some sagging unless you've got your axle mounted to the frame. If you want coils that can hold up a lot of weight, you're ride is going to feel like crap. As mentioned in this video, the primary focus of this lift was "ride comfort". While it will hold up weight much better than factory coils, you will see some sagging with a ton of gear.

EVO has a ton of different lifts and none that are less than 2.5". Aside from their boost lift, the only coil setup I've tested has been their 2.5" Enforcer kit with Kings and their coil overs. Neither are exactly a fair comparison.

@wayalife 2 жыл бұрын
First off, this video was made quite some time ago. Since then, I had found that this lift settles out quite a bit and ultimately, only yielded 1.8" of lift. That is not enough for 37's. Second, you shouldn't need to add in additional steering components.

With the 37's, did you have to use wheel spacers? Was there any clearance problems? Fender liners or frame?
@wayalife
@wayalife 6 жыл бұрын
No wheel spacers were used but the aftermarket wheels the 35" tires were installed on did have 4.75" or back spacing. In other words, if you try to use your factory wheels to run the same tires, you will want to run spacers.

Depends on what size tire you're wanting to run or hope to run in the future. If you're going to stick with 35's, this is a good kit. If you think you might want to go bigger someday like 37's, I would highly recommend the Rancho kit. This kit will barely give you 2" of lift and that works with 35's but not as good with 37's. The Rancho kit will give you closer to 3" of lift and it's a much better fit not to mention costs less as well.

@wayalife
@wayalife 2 ай бұрын
After doing longer term testing with this lift, we found that we only had about 1.8" of actual lift. That was too little to clear 37's without a LOT of rubbing at a full stuff. I would recommend taller coils or at the very least, coil spacers to help things out as well as taller bump stop extensions. Or, you can always trim your fenders.

Can you add this kit after installing the EVO MFG 2.5" Jeep Wrangler JL Boost Stage 1
@wayalife
@wayalife 5 жыл бұрын
I suppose you could but you'd be sitting at about 4.5" of lift. At that height, you really NEED to address things like steering geometry, caster and drivelines. Of course, your shocks would be short as well as your sway bar links. There are other things you'd want to address too.

Also, anyone have issues with the bolt from the passenger side front track bar coming loose?? Wondering if my mechanic missed something
@wayalife
@wayalife 3 жыл бұрын
When all was said and done, the total amount of lift I saw with this kit was only 1.8". That is well within factory spec and there is no need for track bar correction. Regarding the track bar bolt, it needs to be tightened to 120 ft lbs of torque.

Thanks for your honest opinion. Just want to make sure we get the right lift kit for are JL
@wayalife
@wayalife 6 жыл бұрын
Okay, so already, what I can tell you is that I am no fan of dual rate coils. Sure, they help to make your Jeep "look" level when loaded up but the soft side of the coil typically gets all used up and that leaves you riding on the firm side of the coil - in other words, a harsher ride. Also, dual rate coils tend to offer too much resistance on compression and that typically limits stuff when flexing out. Caster cams are also something I would never recommend as they require you to notch out the mounting holes on your axle mount converting them from squares into rectangles. This is fine if you just drive on pavement but if you wheel your Jeep, the bolts can loosen up and cause slop in your control arms. The only way to fix this if you decide to get adjustable control arms in the future is to weld up the slots. For just 2.5" of lift, adjustable track bars are not needed but it is nice that they include them.

@wayalife
@wayalife 2 ай бұрын
Even with Rubicon high clearance fenders, you would still need to remove the fender liners in order to 'help' clear 37's at a full flex. Rugged Ridge makes a set that will help a bit more but what you really need is more lift. Not really a fan of the metal fenders as I've seen them cause body damage when hit.

Wayalife, does this lift address the Jeep JL lean? If not, what can I do about that? Also, you are running EVO control arms. Would you feel comfortable wheeling it the same if you were still running the factory control arms? Also would longer trac bars been a good additional purchase? Thanks
@wayalife
@wayalife 4 жыл бұрын
No. Unlike other lift kits, all the coils are the exact same length and if anything, you have a lean the other way. Also, the kit only yields about 1.8" of actual lift and so no new control arms or track bars are needed being that you're well within spec of stock. The kit we were running before was a 2.5" lift. For 35" tires, this is a good kit but I would recommend something else for 37's.

So, the Rancho lift will get you sitting a bit taller than 2.5" and this Dynatrac lift will have you sitting at exactly 2". The Rancho comes with old school 5000 shocks and this kit comes with Fox 2.0 monotubes made specifically for the coils. The Rancho kit is a good budget friendly entry lift and this might be more of a good long term solution especially if you're just running 35" tires.

Hi wayalife, couple questions I’m not finding concrete info on: 1)I have a mostly stock jlur, will this kit still maintain some rake? (I actually prefer rake contrary to most people’s desires) 2) ties into 1, im not a hardcore overlander, I don’t have a roof rack or RTT. However, say I load up the back with a decent size cooler and some camping gear for a 2 day trip, will the rear sag? I’ve found a lot of great reviews of the kit, but a good amount of people claiming it can’t support much of any weight. 3) and lastly, do you have any experience riding offroad in the mopar kit? Curious to know if it manages head toss and washboard roads as well as people say about the dynatrac.
@wayalife
@wayalife 3 жыл бұрын
1. Yes, this kit will still provide some rake. 2. Depending on how much gear you carry, yes, this kit will sag some. It's impossible to not sag unless you run stiffer coils or dual or variable rate ones that compromise ride quality. 3. Yes, I do have experience and can tell you that it and this kit will still toss your head around if you're not running disconnected. If you're looking for a smoother ride, old school hydro shocks will do that better but they will fade with a lot of fast driving on washboards or rough terrain. Monotube shocks like what both of these kits provide will last a lot longer but they will be firmer overall.

@@wayalife What do you think about adding a small spacer (1-1.5") in the rear for this Dynatrac 2.0 lift to help offset sag if loaded in the back. By the looks of it, I like this kit and not sure stiffer springs for the rear would be more or less of a compromise than a spacer in the back. Any suggestions? Thank you!

@@JimmyDevere Yeah, back when we were still running this lift, that's what I ended up doing. It'll work but I still thought that the Rancho kit rode smoother/better. But then, that's just me.

Honestly, amazingly well. Very little dive on braking, very little squat on acceleration and very flat on hard cornering. Watch the close up clip of the JL going over the busted up rail road tracks and see how flat the body is compared to the tires. Very smooth ride.

@wayalife 3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, we barely got 37's to work on a Rubicon. There's no way I would recommend this lift to clear them as it's really meant for 35's. They do not have a 2.5" lift available. I might recommend that you look something like a Rancho Sport kit. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Zt5hqrVj0pvXe6c.html

I have a 2 inch rubicon express lift. The ride is stuff and I can feel every little bump on the highway at highway speeds. How would you honestly rate this lift for highway driving? I'm bummed I spent so much money before seeing this lift
@wayalife
@wayalife 4 жыл бұрын
Ride quality is 100% subjective and if you're not real happy with what you have now, you might not be too much happier with this kit especially being that it still costs over $1k and will still have Fox monotube shocks. While they are a very nice shock, they will offer a firmer ride than would an old school hydro shock. Honestly, I think you might be happier with something like this kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Zt5hqrVj0pvXe6c.html.

Thanks for the reply! So you believe the Rancho suspension would provide a much better ride? If money wasn't as much of an issue and my main focus was getting a lift for highway driving that provided a smooth rude what world you recommend? I had an Acura before my Jeep
@wayalife
@wayalife 4 жыл бұрын
@@junaidshahid848 On pavement, I personally feel that you might find the Rancho lift and shocks to offer a more comfortable ride or at least, on the highway. Where it wouldn't do as well is on long, hard and fast bombing across the desert. In those conditions, the Rancho shocks would fade and not be as good. If money weren't an issue, I might recommend custom made King coilovers with springs and valving made for your specific taste but that would take some trial and error to figure out.

@wayalife
@wayalife 6 жыл бұрын
If you ran flat fenders or tube fenders, you "shouldn't" have any rubbing but a lot of that will depend on what 2.5" lift you get, how tall the bump stop extensions are and how the fenders in question are made.

There won't be anything to rub without any fenders. I have no experience with the Hauk fenders but would imagine they'd give you the room you're looking for to clear 37's. Only bummer thing is that your nice new JL will look like an old JK.

Nice, how do you rate it compared to the latest rancho one you tested recently?
@wayalife
@wayalife 6 жыл бұрын
I don't think the two are really a fair comparison. The Rancho kit we're running now comes with their entry level RS5000X shocks and while it's a great kit, it also costs about half as much as this Dynatrac kit. If anything the Rancho kit is a much better buy than any budget boost out there and it will offer a better ride compared to it. Something like the Mopar kit would be a better kit to compare the Dynatrac kit to and between the two of them, I would have to give it to Dynatrac. The ride their coils and shocks offer is outstanding, at least in my opinion anyway.

Depends on your budget. This kit costs twice as much but I would argue that it is a BETTER lift. That being said, if you're working on a budget, the Rancho lift is better buy than a set of coil spacers and shock extensions.

Is this kit better than the Mopar 2 inch kit? Do the coil s bow out like on the Mopar lift? I see there are no lower front control arms in this kit. Is that a concern? And it's the same kit for the 2 door JL?
@wayalife
@wayalife 6 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, yes, the Dynatrac kit is a better kit than the Mopar. The coils do NOT bow out like the Mopar kit and there is no need for new lower arms. This is the same kit you would get for a 2-door - you would just get a bit more height out of it.

Wayalife would you recommend adjustable track bars? How far will the axles be outta whack?
@wayalife
@wayalife 6 жыл бұрын
The amount of axle shift with just 2" of lift is negligible. You literally can't even see it and an adjustable track bar is completely unnecessary. In fact, I have personally found that factory track bars hold up much better than most aftermarket ones and because of it, I still run a factory one on my JK running 40's.
