While there are plenty of variables that go into a properly tuned suspension system, maybe the most important comes down to the shock absorbers. Since 2016, our ‘13 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon has been fit with a JKS Manufacturing suspension system. Coupled with a set of 37-inch-tall Nitto Ridge Grapplers, this 2.5-inch lift has given us many years of excellent on- and off-road performance. As our Jeep has grown through the years however, we’ve found that we’ve reached the limits of our Fox 2.0 Adventure Series shocks. Given we’ve had so many years of trouble-free service out of the nitrogen-charged shocks, we went back to the Fox brand when it was time to dial in our suspension even further.
Not looking to do a drastic coilover conversion, we decided to opt for a more economical and user-friendly set of Fox 2.5 Remote Reservoir shocks fit with DSC (Dual Speed Compression) adjusters. These bolt-on shocks are designed specifically for JK Wranglers running 2.5 to 4 inches of lift and offer 12-clicks of high-speed compression and 10-clicks of low speed adjustment. As we discuss in the video above, adjustability was critical for our needs and the DSC adjusters were a great solution for our needs. We have more adventures planned for this JK, so be sure to check back as we continue to dial-in the well-worn Wrangler.

I bought a 0-2" set, just waiting for them to come in the post. This will be my first upgrade on my 16 Jk as I needed shocks. Next is 33x13.5x15 tires/rims

thank for your video and very valuable information. I'm going to install a fox 2.5 factory series w/ DSC reservoir on my stock 2020 jeep rubicon with factory height and I'm looking to for the functions and adjustment models. My jeep its my daily driver but i wanted to install some bad ass shocks to off road and dessert running. Cheers from Mexico!

Thinking of installing these on my stock JL Rubicon. Looking to do high-speed desert running but don't want my on road ride to suffer. Any feedback if these shocks will make the on road ride more comfortable?

The difference between the settings is very noticeable. You have way more valving with these compared to a standard shock, so you are going to notice that right out of the gate. While your coil rate will play a big part in ride quality as well, we have been very happy with the on and off-road ride of these shocks. We rarely run them all the way set to soft because we like the extra stability the increased valving provides. The JL is a little different than the JK, but so long as these are paired with a good set of coils, we think you'll be fine.

Great video. I just received a set of these- that I ordered in May 2021. Two thumbs down for Fox in that regard. Did you just leave off the inner fender front panel? I can't figure out how I could possibly mount the reservoir per these instructions and still have a fender liner. Thanks!

I removed the inner fenders when I put on my EVO flares (prior to this install). I never bothered to replace them. So, I don’t know how they would work with these unfortunately.

What fender flare are you running on that jk ? I know there poison spyder but what ones ?

What benefits does the fox 2.5 with the internal bypass have vs these?

The internal bypass ones will likely absorb a lot of the small chatter bumps better since you have the bypass feature. We have not tested them, so it's hard to say how big of a difference there would be.

What gearing did you choose for the build? I'm going a similar path plan on 37s, built front Axel, and gears soon. In a manual trans im leaning 5.13 because it bothers the hell out of me with 3.23 is literally can't use 6th gear even on the interstate on 33" tires. When the 37s come I want 6th gear back

I put in 5.13 gears. My JK had the automatic, which meant it revved pretty high on the interstate (around 3k RPM at 70 mph). Most of my driving was stop and go, so the 5.13 was a better fit. The 3.6L just doesn't make a lot of power down low, so the higher gear really helps.

That means it's set to the softest compression setting.
