I just found you yesterday and my drumming has already improved. I can't believe how basic and killer sounding a lot of the lessons are. I was over complicating the drums all these years.

Jeff my man love your vids. Your at a level I certainly aspire to be. I have a quick question for you. So when you get to part where you play the fills slow and then goal tempo, on the bottom of the screen I can see music notation with the lines and all that stuff. I personally don't really understand how to follow this as I'm not versed in music theory. Would it be possible to get a RLRK type notation instead as I see other drum teachers do? Or would you recommend just learning notation? Those fills are tasty and I really want to learn them, thanks brotha 🤘

Fills sound killer man, great work! But I also have a question: what ear protection do you wear when you're playing and how do you listen to your metronome/music? I'm a bit concerned about my hearing in the long term, and am currently using ear plugs followed by wireless headphones that play music or a metronome in my ear. Coming from a professional, do you think that's enough protection??

Thanks bud! For hearing protection, I think it would be best to get either a set of over-the-ear or in-ear monitors. Vic Firth makes a great set of over-the-ears, and I use Shure SE 215’s which are only around $100 and are pretty decent. I just plug them into my computer for my metronome and music.

@@JeffRandallDrumming I mean this is a great idea because it works well like a concept and teaches the beginner/intermediate drummers to catch fish, instead of catching the fish for them. I see it as making something that works very well out of just the essential, dare I say minimalistic skills. I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say, it's difficult to express myself in English since it isn't my first language. We definitely need more educators like yourself who can teach how to fish!
