Jlo was only popular in the “Americanized”Hispanic community tbh. She’s been known as a fraud in Mexico proper for a long time. This carried over to many latinos living in the USA. Most Latinos actually find her kind of insulting. She’s considered a sell-out to the American cash machine because of her shamelessness in ripping off better singers. Many Latinos felt antagonized that such a fake was their “representation”… when there’s so many talented/passionate singers within the community who never received any attention. Basically, you had to be a white-washed puppet to be accepted by the music industry. Luckily the black American community has a long rich musical history.. so they where mostly spared from this.

Hey Honest please make a video about Shakira,she's an amazing artist who opened doors for latin artists. She was the first Southamerican to win Grammys in the US . She has a total of 16 Grammys ( 2 US Grammys and the rest Latin Grammys) and sold 80 million albums. Shakira tried many genres! Pop,Rock, Reggeaton etc. Made the official song of three World Cups and became the first Southamerican to get #1in the US Billboard Hot 100!

What annoys me is that it seems like she didn’t even try to practice singing. She could’ve gotten a vocal coach and really went in and spent the time to develop her own style of singing, develop her own voice but she didn’t do that
