Sometimes in life someone very special comes along and you just stand in awe of there ability,in the world of music Aurora is one such artist,of course there are many good singers around but for me this young artist Aurora who at the age of 6 started to put melodies together on an old Brocken piano and then at 9 start writing songs is unbelievable, the song runaway was written by her at the age of 12 in fact on her first album all the songs were written by her before the age of 17/18 for me she simply is the best live performer I’ve ever seen she is the essence of what the art of music should be all about I only have one word for her after seeing her live twice now and that’s Genius ❤️

When looking at her performances, you'll see she's just living trough, and letting the feeling of the lyrics free. Very few things are random, but her voice palette is very wide, and she uses it to bring us on the journey. In Trough the eyes of a Child (Live at Nidarosdomen), we can see a lot of it.

I absolutely love this self-taught artist. So unique, both in her approach to song writing and performance and as a personality. Wonderful reaction Jen, as always! And I agree with Thorleif regarding his suggestion that you consider reacting to her song It Happened Quiet, live at The Current which is a duet with Silja Sol (The Current is a member-supported public radio station) . It's really quite excellent and quintessential Aurora. I'd also recommend Aurora's song "The Seed." It too is exceptional and you get to see a more dynamic, alternative pop side to her. The music video with her doing interpretive dance to the song, posted on her KZfaq channel, is the version I'd recommend reacting to.

Great reaction/review and informative as always. I saw Aurora at the Brixton Academy a few weeks ago and she performed this there. She is an ethereal presence and her emotion transfers to the audience; even this crusty, 54 year old prog rocker was totally entranced by her. She has a delicate beauty and so much love for everyone she is truly an inspiration that genuinely lifts your heart. I can only thank my daughter for introducing me to her music and, even though I've been going to gigs since 1984 and have seen so many artists, I was staggered by her performance and, I'll admit, fell a little bit in love with her (along with everyone else in the venue). Peace everyone x

Thank you for a lovely reaction of Aurora. I just wanted to mention that it’s not butterflies on Aurora’s dress. They are moth’s. Aurora has developed a love for moths because she feels kind of sorry for them. Most people love butterflies because they are beautiful, while moths are usually neglected. So she feels that they need some more love too 😊 She actually has her own collection of moths, but she only collect them if they had already passed away. She would never harm any living creature.

Imagine being 18 and performing for so many people. Especially a song that is so personal. Written at 11 yo. I don't know how many live performances she had done before this. It must have been overwhelming. Between Aurora and a-ha (playing their 80s classic "Take on Me", vocalist sounding exactly the same with his amazing falsetto) at the same concert. Amazing Norwegian performers at a great Norwegian concert. Its interesting, but due to Aurors's accent, when she sings the "Now" in "Now, take me home, home where I belong", it sounds like "No" to English speakers, but she is also saying "Now" again at the end of the lyric, but when people write the lyrics out they put the end 2 as "no". But if you really pay attention, "Now, take me home where I belong".....Then she's pleading...."take me home, home where I belong, Now, now!". But it always gets written as "no, no". Not sure why that stands out to me. Aurora is one of a handful of artists that I could always listen to. She reminds me of when Bjork was in the band The Sugarcubes in the late 80s. "Life's Too Good" is such a great album and their old performances are fun to watch. Both Scandinavian faeries with amazing voices.

Aurora is Norwegian and English is a second language for her. I have heard another vocal coach say that the vowels are pronounced differently in Norwegian and they usually keep their mouths more closed, perhaps language has been affected by the cold northern climate temps and need to stay warm thus not fully opening the mouth wide.

Her blind audition was a cover of Demi Lovato's Stone Cold- She killed it- She has lots of excellent covers, all with her own interpretation. I usually recommend her cover of Shallow, her cover of Runaway by Aurora and her cover of Birdy's Not About Angels is excellent! Regarding her cover of Aurora's Runaway, No one can do what Aurora does, but Daneliya's interpretation is excellent! @@stephenheathfield6057 Sissel Kyrkjebø is really is a generation before, but she has done a lot international. For example a lot of the singing in "Titanic". This is a good example of what she can do: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rdyCjLJ93Ju7d3k.html

Reminds me a lot of how Janis Joplin moves during Ball and Chain; both have movements that seem to be improvised based on how they feel rather than choreographed.

well, i think i have to repeat myself but if you are talking about norwegian women in music like aurora and angelina, you have to mention susanne sundfor first. she is a role model of aurora and was already a big star when aurora was unknown. one of a kind voice and songwriting skills. plus, she also has a murder song, it's called silencer

Check out her Glastonbury 2016 and 2019 shows. Both on youtube. Maybe not to react to, but to see more of her live. Also Aurora Lollapalooza Brazil 2018. Just subscribed.

Don't forget the lyrics! Always of interest. Stick to the live performances and the concert at Nidarosdommen is a masterpiece. If you want a sample try through the eyes of a child.

She is great. A cute English accent she has too. She sings at a pace doesn't she.. She's quite active & certain in her vocality. Aw I love yer eye shadow & look, gorgeous. I like the natural. But hey what you like is all that matters. That's a 1st i saw. Éar rings. I just loved yer relaxed looked. A never mind me, yer just very cute that's all 😀. Anyways more to a gal than physical beauty absolutely. Back to Aurora, I like her pace it's deliberate. She is a grear singer. Maybe another 1. 👍👍👍👍 Lots of thumbs up. You have fun. Thanks for a grear review. My bedtime so night night 👍

I think some people get mad because there are certain artists that should just never be analyzed as if they're doing it on purpose. It's hard to explain unless you know Aurora's real power through her personality and feeling the song. Rarely does she sing the same song exactly the same. It has nothing to do with technique, although it does apply, but more to do with flow and mood.
