I always talk myself into going lightweight. I have SUPER lightweight Outdoor Research hiking pants which are comfy as all hell but they are not durable like these two pants. They are great for hiking or daily wear IF you don't anticipate kneeling, scooting on your butt, laying on the ground or doing anything where there will be friction against the material. I've gone through two pair of the lightweight zip-off pants of a few brands and they are all the same. They last a few hikes but eventually just rub through on the knees or butt. I am stoked about the Vido Pros. They have been a dream pant for some time and I had an opportunity at REI to pick them up and can't wait to give them a good thorough testing. I will keep you posted on the compass. I can already tell it's not quite as accurate as a higher end compass or a digital one on my phone but we'll see over time how it holds up. Thankfully they aren't super expensive.
