Latoya was the one that was jealous of everyone else in that family. She was manipulated and used by that guy she married or ran around with and through her he did the same to the Jackson family. That's Jermaine's point. Michael became famous beginning with that group, especially in those days. Give Joe Jackson credit also😂😂. The group may never have existed if not for their dad. Michael hated his dad it seems, but Jermaine went through the same discipline. If he was a good hearted older brother, he loves his siblings. But Michael's name came from the Jackson 5 before his personal success.

Even if Jermaine was jealous, can we all agree that we can't really blame him? The guy was the lead singer, then Mike came along and yes, Michael was absolutely phenomenal. A once in a lifetime talent. But his reach was a billion times beyond the entire Jackson family combined. Jealousy in itself (when between family) is a real and valid aspect to the human experience, always comparing yourself to family members is something I think we've all done before. I genuinely can't blame Jermaine if he was jealous given the circumstances, that doesn't make him a bad person. I think the MJ fandom sort of... demonises the brothers a little because "OHH THEY'RE NOT MICHAEL" but like.. Come on man.

Jermaine chose to stay at Motown when the family left he thought that because he married the boss daughter they would make him a mega star. He got a couple hits. After the family did the summer tv series, Janet did Good Times and Michael did The Wiz with Diana Ross. He came out with Off the Wall he did a couple sell out concerts while working on his Thriller album. Jermaine did a couple duets and minor soap opera appearances. Then by 1984, their mother talked Michael into doing a tour with his brothers. Thriller separated Michael from his brothers. Jermaine having lost the spotlight to Michael and Janet became the family spoke person. Jermaine never cultivated the connections in the business to succeed nor did he have the business acumen that Michael had. Jermaine’s need to be the most famous within the family had dogged him. He dissed Michael and stabbed Randy in the back. The during the family’s Jackson Dynasty show he brings up how he felt when the family chose to leave Motown. He made his choice yet 40 years later he blames his brothers for following their father’s vision to find them a deal where they can exhibit their creative talents. His brothers were trying to organize a Jackson reunion tour and he wanted to stand alone and not be in the group. Jackie, Tito and Marlon are still touring without him. While his old self is marrying young women younger than his oldest child.

Actually Jermaine was HUGE for a minute back in the eighties. He’s one of those artists like Jody Watley. She was massive for awhile, challenging the Madonnas and Janets for the spotlight. She just couldn’t hold it as long. There was a point where Jermaine was putting out hit after hit. He wasn’t chopped liver, he simply didn’t become iconic. That’s only reserved for a few. It’s simply his bad luck that it happened to two of his siblings

I believe they are all proud of Michael. All the brothers started out together and gave Michael the foundation he needed. It just so happened that Michael had a special gift and excelled. LaToya had never been as talented vocally as the rest of the siblings and it obviously made her bitter, going to levels such as nudity and accusing their of father of molesting them. Very nasty human being.

It was likely more of that natural sibling jealousy. Jermaine was the only other sibling to have real solo success outside Michael and Janet. It just paled in comparison to Michael. It was likely more of the natural jealousy than malicious. I’m sure he was proud of him. When he was going through his legal trouble Jermaine was there. Latoya threw Michael under the bus.

And none of the sisters reached Janet's level. Michael did what Jermaine did not. Michael stayed hot and on top for generations. Jermaine's "hits" he brags about did not get him far at all

i mean guys just think of it. Jermaine was the group leader before Michael. When Michael came, Jermaine was no longer the group leader of the Jackson 5. How Michael was getting all the attention more than his brothers. Even the brothers get praise but not how they give praise to Michael. That why the victory tour happened because the jacksons knew Michael Jackson thriller album was already blowing and he was getting big. The jacksons also wanted to be on the same level of success Michael was on.

Her contempt was for the fluidity of what those brothers had in music and women save Michael against what the sisters didn't have in music or were allowed to entertain in dudes save Janet.

People forget back in the late 80s early 90s Jermaine and Michael were estranged and Jermaine said a lot of things about Michael in public. Michael even threw shade at Jermaine in an acceptance speech at the Grammys with Janet standing by his side.

If anything, it strengthened their bond for the trials that lay ahead (the child molestation allegations) where Jermaine backed Michael until the end

Jermaine was jealous of Michael and felt that he should have been the most famous one in the Jackson family. He resented the fact that it was Michael and not him. Jermaine's career after Michael's leaving doesn't even come close to Michael's or Janet's.
