Blessed Alicja Maria Jadwiga Kotowska was a nun and a member of the Sisters of Resurrection. She served as a superior in her house and also as the director of training for the house. Alicja is one of the 108 Polish Martyrs of World War ll and was beatified by Pope John Paul ll. She was also known as Alice Kotowska.

1:08 It's about the war of Poland against the bolsheviks and their Red Army, with the Battle of Warsaw in 1920, called also a Miracle on the Vistula. Polish people prayed in this difficult time for protection especially to the Mother of God, and also to saint Andrzej Bobola.

@@paulebreowong2790Poland was never defeated and will not be, as the nation, with its spirit and identity. Not as long as most of her people stay faithful to the God and respect the Mother of God also. Even if Poland and her people had to suffer, struggle, she survived. In our national anthem we sing that Poland is not yet dead until we do live, even the last of us. As long as we have Poland in our hearts, it won't be dead, even in the worst times, and will be restored always. As I've already mentioned in another comment, there's much more about being humans that just some physical, brutal force. And even in the worst times, Poland and Polish people never did surrender, in their nature is to oppose to the evil regimes, like nazism or communism were. And all such regimes always do finally fall, as history of humans shows.

Thanks to their heroic fight, resistance movement (being the broadest in whole Europe), it was not possible just to turn Poland into a part of the USSR (like it did happen to some other nations). And Polish were opposing to the communist for all the decades, until communism did finally fall.

Thank You a lot for this video. I haven't heard about her earlier, but it's a beautiful story, so closely connected with Poland's difficult historical experiences and Polish identity. In Piaśnica forests Germans murdered, just like her, about 14 000 people. This was a part of so-called "Intelligenzaktion", so special action of killing representatives of intelligentsia, clerks, Catholic clergy, priests, lawyers, economists, teachers, doctors, merchants, journalists and other people with middle or higher education, in order to destroy the occupied nation in that way.

Reading the books of the New Testament, we probably asked ourselves more than once: *"Why 2000 years we do not see those miracles that accompanied the Сhurch of Christ in the I century, as described in the New Testament?"* Why do the so-called preachers of Christ have to prove that Jesus really existed and atheists boldly deny the historicity or divine origin of Christ? Maybe because the Сhurch of Christ has not existed for 2000 years? The Сhurch does not exist in the form in which it is presented in the books of the New Testament, but there are Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant and other christian sects claiming to be the place of the Church, but they not have the only thing that distinguishes the divine from the human and is characteristic of just the Сhurch of Christ -the reinforcement of the word with signs, that is, miracles (Mark 16:15-20). Therefore, some researchers doubt the historicity of Christ, and some of them are not opposed to declaring him a an ordinary philosopher, teacher. But even if Jesus were an ordinary philosopher, his disciples would be ordinary followers of Jesus. And they would not dare to write about the miracles that not only Jesus, but also his disciples, could perform. If there were the Church in our time as described by the authors of the New Testament books, where miracles are performed, the sick are healed, where prophesied, and the dead are raised, no one would doubt the historicity of Christ. Then there would be the same controversy throughout the world as in the first century - Jesus the Son of God or the false prophet who seduces the world by miracles. As a result, we can say that the emergence and development of christian sects and atheism was the result of the fact that over the 2000 years the Сhurch of Christ did not exist. Plenty of people were helping them, with sacrifice. Especially in Poland, where it was especially risky, because it was the only country in which Germans introduced a death penalty for helping a Jew, and it was not only for the helper himself, but for his whole family also. Just to mention the Ulma Family - Józef and Wiktoria Ulma together with their seven children (beatified as a family by the Pope in 2023). Or Irena Sendler - there are a lot of publications about her available online, also in English. Or Antonina and Jan Żabińscy, who were directos of the ZOO in Warsaw and where hiding Jews in there - there was a good movie about them, titled "The Zookeepers wife" (2017). A lot of Polish people were awarded the title "Rightous Among the Nations" by Israeli Jad Vashem. But besides those awarded, there were many, many more. For any Jewish person to survive at all, there was a whole chain of people engaged in helping such person, by organizing escape, places to hide that often had to be changed (so often it was not just one place for a person, but more), in providing supplies, documents etc. Polish were also smuggling microfilms, documents, reports, also risking their lives much by doing this, to inform the Western allies about the Holocaust, ghettos and all the other atrocities committed by Germans the occupied Poland - just read about Jan Karski, a famous Polish emmissary (in 1943 he met personally with the US President Roosevelt, however his attitude was that he believed that the information provided must be exaggerated, he didn't want to believe it's all true) or about Witold Pilecki and his famous report from Auschwitz, called "Witold's report" or "Pilecki report". And there were many, many others as well.
