Alex Payne is joined by the Munster legend Jerry Flannery (who also played 41 times for Ireland and was selected to the 2009 British and Irish Lions squad), and by the former England 7's skipper and House of Rugby stalwart Rob Vickerman. They talk Arsenal, the Eiffel Tower, Love Island (yep!) Axel Foley and England's World Cup squad.

Jerry has to have been one of the best guests that have been on here since the beginning. Only Ben Ryan has rivaled him in my opinion - could listen to both his stories and analysis all day.

@@JOE_co_uk Here's a long shot, but any chance of getting Wilko, Martin Johnson or Greenwood on? Absolute legends. Also, the thought of Hask bantering Johnson is hilarious!

Fascinating. Keep Jerry! Re NZ and Australia. A key criticism of England in 2015 was they had half the caps and experience compared with NZ and Australia! Age and experience or lack of is always the convenient assessment with hindsight. Also, Alex should've asked Jerry what the 'work' done on Cipriani's susceptibilities was and if that paid off in the game. Is Cipriani worth the risk in the tighter matches. We know he can be 'accommodated'. Jerry seems honest enough to answer without giving away too much.

Great podcast. Great guest (Flannery). That Munster v Glasgow game after Foley passing, I maintain they could have beaten the ABs that day. There was something special about that day and performance.

Interesting Jerry mentions Twelvetrees. 36 had it all, physical, distributor, creative, runner, big boot, 2nd fly half - exactly what England needed at 12 - but he never produced it at international level. I feel like he let Lancaster down after so much time and investment was put into him ahead of 2015.

Worst podcast ever, but then you can’t please everyone and I’m the sort of person who would rather listen to Haskell and Tins spinning dits and getting pissed than being naused by all these serious men whom I do not recognise. That said, I have to remember that joe rugby is not an English biased podcast and it does need to cater for the wider (non English) audience as well. Being an England fan this is not easy for me to accept of course, but unlike Wales this Saturday, I will adapt.

DraigUK Horribly! Thanks for reminding me! Haha i actually think England did okay, considering the closed roof, welsh crowd and a try with 13 England players on the pitch isn’t really something to brag about. But Wales were the better team, and deserve to be no1 going to the World Cup.
