I was lucky enough to do an ad with Carol in the 1980's. She was CAROL CHANNING through and through. She arrived in a full-length red vinyl maxi-coat and gave away toy diamond rings to everyone. Larger than life. Do they make them like this anymore?

Woweee!!! C.C. was 72 when she did this! She still embodied Dolly with so much charm, just as she did almost 30 years prior. By the way, as a performer and drummer who has done many shows, I can tell you that the conductor and orchestra were truly sensational, but it should not surprise me, for this was an extravaganza of the highest caliber. Bea Arthur, Rita Moreno and Leslie Uggams were fantastic. Jerry Herman and cast did a tremendous ending!

Joe Caroselli: You didn't mention Angela Lansbury...Or, was this a different show, and she was not in it??? I remember seeing her first movie, "Gas Light" with Charles Boyea (spelled wrong, sorry) Angela played the part of a very young English house maid. She was only 19 years old for that movie. I was probably 7/8 years old then, and World War 2 was going on in Europe. I've always liked her all these years. I've been watching the old reruns of "Murder She Wrote," six nights per week. I believe Angela is gone now. God rest her soul, and Rest in peace, Lovely Lady.
@joecaroselli58582 жыл бұрын
@@ethelnewberry9296 Angela Lansbury was in "Mame" from 1966. Ms. Lansbury is still very much alive. She is 95, and will be 96 in October. The show and subsequent movie "Gaslight" is the inspiration of that psychological term referring to somebody trying to make another person question their sanity and reality. Yes, Angela was very young when she appeared in that move. Actually she was only 18 and turning 19 at the end of that year...1944.

She had no voice worth enjoying , but THAT lady was full of PERSONALITY! And she connected. THAT's what counts. Only America could have concocted this showbiz fiction, which enamours our entire planet. IF the Russians could have invented some king of competition , theatrically, then we could all be in peace. Sadly, they are incapable.l
