Fun song. I lived in Thibodaux, LA when this song came out. Jerry skipped a funny verse and repeated the "only one hand" verse. Missed verse was "Now everyone blamed his old man For making him mean as a snake When Amos Moses was a boy His daddy would use him for alligator bait Tie a rope around his waist and throw him in the swamp (hahaha) Alligator bait in the Louisiana bayou" always loved his laugh in the verse.

Jerry, Roy Clark and Glen Campbell are 3 of the most underrated guitarist's ever. The skill they had supercedes every modern player to date. I saw Jerry once when I was a kid, probably 35 yrs ago. He played a little local festival here in southern Illinois. To the other kids he was just some old guy playing music that our parents listened to. But for me, being that I was familiar with his work, he was a guitar god. Just to actually see him live was and still is one of the best times of my life. I was lucky enough to get his autograph on vinyl. Unfortunately it has long been lost. But that night I got to see one of my guitar heroes in action. It was amazing.

Just saw a video with Roy Clark (and Glen Campell and Barbara Mandrell and Jerry Reed) whose 1979 album with Gatemouth called Makin Music was amazing. A few years earlier on the album Bogalusa Boogie Man (or was it Down South in Bayou Country ?) Gatemouth played Amos Moses. The Jerry Reed (video--Austin City Limits? 1982) guitar strength version good too, of course. Both are entertaining not quite Cajun songs with a dose of countrified funk.😎

Speaking of all he was (USA), look at all of those Peavey T-60 guitars and Peavey amps- made in the USA in Meridian, MS! 🇺🇸 My girlfriend in 1989 bought me a new Bandit amp. Dang, that amp was absolutely indestructible. No, it it wasn't a tone monster, but it never needed anything but to be plugged as it traveled with me for many years. Once I settled down and put together my something like my 15th guitar room, I just ran out of room with my tube amps and I wanted it to go to someone who could appreciate it as it deserved. That was just last year in 2020! Loud sucker too! Jerry was a proud American, as am I here deep in the heart of the great state of Texas. 🇺🇸
