Back in the early 2000s I was at little hole in the wall lunch spot outside Nashville and after getting my food in the cafeteria style line I searched for an empty able in the packed dining room. After wandering around for a minute or two a voice said "sit down right here, son". Low and behold it was Jerry Reid and the other guy sitting with us was Chet Atkins! I was so in awe and shook up I could barely keep my food on my fork. Both were friendly, kind, and gracious. I will NEVER forget that day.

I ain’t sure what it was or how it happened, but a couple months back I watched Smokey and the bandit for the first time. And ever since then, I found myself slowly getting more confident in ole western style, got me a cowboy hat one day and that was it from there. Jerry reed had the type of confidence I want, and I’m getting there. May 28th 2024 I turned 21, got off work at 6AM and went to a loves gas station, got me a 12 pack of coors, when I left I started blasting this song with the windows down and couldn’t help but smile. Thank you Jerry reed and Burt Reynolds for helping me find myself.

🤣 today’s “country n’ western”. What a joke, just like the rest of the other genres today (mostly), complete garbage that copy the sound of what sells. Damn shame, but there are a few artists out there that don’t subscribe to the executive’s will. I guess I am just pissy that great stuff ain’t main stream anymore.

@@olhesty2196 On point 100%. Today it's about how much musically an artist can fit in with the status norm, and how fake and narcissistic they can be off stage. Nothing progressive or new in music will ever form out of that.

No one, who ever paid attention to him, considered him underrated. Chet Atkins considered him as an equal, on the guitar.

I think few people realize Jerry was quite an accomplished guitar player since his affable "OH Shucks" persona was what he was know for in the movies . Just a good O'l Boy with a boatload of talent!
