You can put the bathmat vertically instead of horizontally to make it fit and the rack in the shower is a towel rack.

I could be wrong, but your apartment looks very familiar to me. She posted 5 years ago, so it's a little dated, but go watch Apartment Tour/Create a Zen Space Ashley Joseph. The walls and bedroom door etc...look the same. I LOVE her apartment tour. It appears she may live on a lower floor
