In this tutorial I'll show a cool technique to achieve faux ammolite. It's a fun, stunning technique that can be used to create many faux stones. It doesn't even need to be a faux stone. The technique is pretty all on it's own. Photos don't do justice to the piece.

Scrap tutorial please!! And thanks for this tutorial...ammolite has always been my favorite stone. I have several pieces of the genuine stone, but you’re right they are EXPENSIVE! And I have to say, this is the only faux ammolite tutorial I’ve found that actually looks like the real thing. I’m SO EXCITED TO TRY THIS!!

I am so very grateful for all the time and effort you put into all of the videos you post, so much good and handy informaton, and you explains everything in a very understandable way that even noobs like me can understand and follow along with :) (I´m Autistic, so I usually have a hard time keeping up, even if I watch the same video several times, so I would classify you as Autistic friendly! you are one of very few here on YT that I can understand right away *I can only speak for myself tho*) I really love and enjoy your art :) So THANK YOU very much for sharing :) ❤️

Fabulous effect, Samantha! The detail in the video was really nice, too. I really enjoy when you explain not just what you’re doing, but why you’ve chosen to do it a particular way. I often find myself thinking why did she do it that way, so it’s great to hear your reasoning. Thanks, as always, for teaching this old dog some new tricks. 😂💜💜

Gorgeous! I will try this technique as soon as possible. I must admit, I do like sanding. I used it to produce very clean, defined edges, and also on gain more control of the shape of curved edges. The only drawbacks are the need for a mask, and the cleanup.

I don't mind sanding if I don't have many pieces to sand. I don't mind it because I'm a freaky perfectionist and I know how much better things generally are if they're finished nicely. I do love your liquid clay finish

Never heard of Ammolite before so I had to research real to know faux but wow you're faux matches up to a lot of the real stuff I saw on the internet. Wondering what would happen if you started with silver metallic flakes instead of a sheet? I was also trying to finish a miniature bench and was struggling with mosaic as it is so small. This just might work to give a mosaic affect too. Thanks for stretching my mind and thank you again for a marvelous video.

Hi Jess! Welcome home from your holiday. I certainly hope you did some well-deserved 😎 relaxing and enjoying yourself.... you earn it. Your Ammolite crackle stones are truly stunning! Thanx so much. A quick question... can I place my 2 part resin in the UV lamp?

You can play 2 part resin into a UV lamp, but it doesn't speed up the time it takes to cure.

Well, I'm new with using the inks and tried this but mine came out looking absolutely nothing like this, lol...I think my inks aren't so great and they basically looked washed away within seconds, especially yellow, orange and light green so I resorted to just making drops of ink..I dabbed with my finger then realizing it turns black or brown when they run into each other, LOL.. So I learned to use a piece of paper to lift the black and brown off, LOL.. Then used a paper towel to dab as I went so the colors at least blended better if the paintbrush didn't work well with my weak colors.. I decided to add pink and peacock and different blue since they showed up better and I ended up with some pretty cool shimmery mermaid colored earrings!!
