Beautiful effect! Very clever way to achieve the faux stone finish. I really love the way you go all in with your hands, mess or no mess! The "oops, it went flying" made me smile. Beautiful! I really enjoy your tutorials, you give a lot of good hints and explain the steps very clearly. I would love to see how you eventually used these. I'm wondering if you add some pieces of plain black clay in the mold here and there if it would mimic those larger black areas in the actual stone.

@JessamaTutorials
@JessamaTutorials 5 жыл бұрын
It's easier for me to just sand it instead of fussing with it before baking. You can try using 99% alcohol to wipe across the cabochons before baking them. That will remove some of the paint and mica. You'll still need to sand though.

Liquid Clay (please let us know not just where we can buy this but do you have a tutorial on how to do it?) & the last thing you mention I cannot understand at all...so please let me know what it is, where to buy it and how to do it...Thanks so much Jessica! HI Samantha, I am a very new clayer, and I looove your site and channel. Quick question, which may be silly ... for the spiderweb jasper, why do you use both black mica AND paint? Would it work with just paint? (I don't mean the flecks of paint you include, I do understand that you do that to add sections of solid black.) Rather, when you roll the chips in the black paint with the skewers, is that not enough to encase the chips? Or is the mica just to add shine/depth? Many many thanks!!!
@JessamaTutorials
@JessamaTutorials 4 жыл бұрын
The mica added a sparkle to the stone, but caused the pieces of clay to not stick together. I added the paint to help the pieces stick together and to create a thicker vein of black. :D

Dear Samantha, first I would like to thank you for sharing with us this lovely video. Secondly, I have two questions regarding polishing polymer clay pieces.. What the name of the green sheet that you are using in this video? Is this a normal sandpaper or what? What about its grits degree? And I want to know what is the material of your dremel wheel ? Is it cotton thread? Or what is its material exactly? I hope you see my comment and help me 💕

Love your work and watch all your tutorials but I was wondering why you don’t sand with water anymore? Isn’t the dust bad for you?
@JessamaTutorials
@JessamaTutorials 3 жыл бұрын
The sanding papers don't take off as much clay and trap any dust. If you want to avoid dust, sanding with wet\dry sandpapers in water will work. Use the sanding papers after that to get the shine.

Is there a reason for not using wet and dry sanding paper or sanding with your Dremel. Then damp sanding papers wouldn't clog up, it would also save you time and elbow grease. I do love the end result, it was worth all your hard work. Thanks. Howelite would be awesome.
@JessamaTutorials
@JessamaTutorials 3 жыл бұрын
I do use the wet\dry sand paper from time to time, but I find that they remove a lot more clay than the polishing papers and the polishing papers have a shinier finish one you've used them.

Can you bake them in the mold? As long as the mold is heat proof?
@JessamaTutorials

Yes. You can. However it will end up with more marks at the end of the baking process than if it was out of the mold due to air pockets trapped in the mold.

Wouldn't it be easy and you'd use less if you used scrap clay to make the form of the cabochons, roll your spider web into a cane, cut off slices to make a sheet then cut our the shape you need then cover the scrap clay with the sheet? I feel you'd use less of it and it would still look at good.
