Personally, I think being a responsible, law-abiding citizen having a concealed weapon capable of shooting back at a mass murderer about to kill you and the surrounding people around you gives you better chances than being a helpless, unarmed victim.

I am pro 2nd Amendment but I HATE GUNS. Because I hate them I choose not to own a weapon and I am a Christian so killing is wrong. I leave punishment at Judgment from Christ and God. Leftists want guns banned and they hate guns so pulling guns from innocent people is asinine and they also are Atheistic to the core, same left who pulled God and Christ and US History out of schools.

@@terrynicholls1991 The issue still remains, guns don't kill people, people do. Meaning, even if you remove guns, people will still kill other people, they will just use knives, cars, bats, etc. The statistics demonstrate that banning guns do not lower murder rates. For example, when the UK did a large gun ban, the murder rate did not decline at all... people started using knives to commit murder. Funnily enough, the UK is now considering requiring permits to own knives. The reason America has so much murder is because of gangs in poor communities, the overwhelming majority being Hispanic and black communities. Conversely, if you go to a rural "red neck" town in the US where everyone owns 3 guns, the murder rate is near zero. Finally, in the United States, the areas with the most severe gun restrictions have the most murder.

"Sight you Britain" Hmm lets have a look at that one, 1988 Britain introduced much tighter gun laws. The result was more murders and more violent crime. They tried again in 1996 and again more violence more crime. Over 20 years of tighter and tighter gun laws and the UK saw more and more violence. Its nor until Britain changed tacked and started targeting gangs directly did Britains violent crime rate start to level out. Britains gun laws failed and to this day are lawed and unjust.

Would-be mass murderer decides to go surfing instead" Telling millions of the safest, law abiding, people in America that they need to give up their rights because of the acts of a few evil people is adverse to everything our flag stands for.

PinkFlying Menez, how many "every day" people walk up in full rifle config vests, masks, and body armor possibly, carrying an AR-15 or random other firearm out in a brandishing manner? Again, I infer BRANDISHING as it infers they have the weapon out in a threatening manner. I don't know about you, but I don't walk around out in public with a ski mask, black combat gear, and guns out in the open in my hand. Likewise, with a few seconds you can find numerous videos of people overpowering ARMED GROUPS with a single firearm. Do not forget also that most mass shooters end up killing themselves at the first sign of armed intervention, or they end up dying horrid to the armed intervention. Either way it is a more proven aspect, as you can't name a mass shooting that hasn't ended with a firearm ending the life of the mass shooter, or the mass shooter killing himself after encountering police. There is a pretty distinguishable trait between a good guy and a bad guy with a gun, when you see a guy randomly gunning down everyone around him, versus armed individuals exchanging gun fire with a single person. But hey, I'm sure the ski mask will be a more obvious thing than that. Perhaps he might get the first person attempting to intervene, maybe the second, but the point is if SOMEONE is successful it can reduce the total death that may of happened. And let's be honest, he won't be able to predict WHO has a gun, so it leaves a point he is at that disadvantage, and all it takes is one out of a group to be successful, or even the WHOLE group. You are right, a firearm is a tool capable of lethal implications, its a sad part about the world but crime exists, and at times only LETHAL force is enough to prevent it. It may not be required to even be shot, as again THREAT of death is a very big threat, I'm not willing to barter my life, and more than likely the person attacking you isn't willing to either.

I never "said the complete opposite" cuz I never implied that more gun laws stops gun violence. My premise is taking away the option of one being able to attain firearms that u can take down an army with and having it more difficult for guns to be accessible. What I DO KNOW is NOT the answer is having more guns out in the streets or having teachers carrying around weapons to stop loons from starting tragedies.

I can carry, except for a few places and certain states, in full compliance with the law. My gun isn't particularly heavy or bothersome to carry. I've been carrying over a year now, and not one single person has noticed, or at least visibly reacted to it. I would rather carry this thing around for the next 60 years until I die of old age, and never once "need it" than leave it at home because I don't think I will, and then be wrong.

There is a difference to being mentally ill & being a person who is unfit to own & use a firearm. A sense of morality, ones conscience, the value one places on human life, a sense of responsibility. There are many reasons that should stand in the way of owning a firearm, not only mental illness. But a in depth questionnaire could thin a lot of these people out I've grown up with guns & also as a soldier. I don't love them or hate them. And lets not forget, people kill people not guns.

Full auto weapons have been regulated with three different pieces of legislation. The first was the National Firearms Act of 1934, then the Gun Control Act of 1968, and finally the Hughes Amendment in 1986. In essence, what these three laws have done is to say respectfully that fully automatic firearms must be taxed and regulated, cannot be imported from outside the United States, and can no longer manufacture and/or register new/existing full auto weapons with the federal government (BATFE).

What alot of people aren't considering when Piers says the rate of gun murder in Great Britain, Spain, France etc. is roughly 30-50 a year, is that in Great Britain and the other countries mentioned is that the population in 2011 was between 47,190,493 and 65,630,692 depending on the country. In the USA the population in 2011 was 311,591,917. aprox 6 times higher than the other countries. We still have a higher percentage but compared to other killers itss relatively low.....TBC

According to John Lott, since 1950 all but one notable exception of mass shootings occurred in a "gun free zone", and by the way there are over 8.5 million people in the US licensed to carry a gun in public. Not to mention, it wasn't legal for any of these guys to carry a gun to a gun free zone but they did that anyway. That kind of kills the "we should kill concealed carry" argument for me.

I have seen Pierce say that only 35 people die by firearms in the UK. I found this to be a bit understated. On average 50 of 100k people are murdered with firearms and reported as homicides. Still lower than the USA having an average of 300 deaths per 100k but there is an interesting point of information that we are neglecting. Guns are Banned in the UK not the USA, but homicides involving other weapons are almost twice as likely in the UK than in the USA.

This is somewhat of a silly argument, since, in order to have a CHL, you have to go through extensive training. Most people aren't going to get one unless they know their gun, go shooting regularly and can use it properly. So I don't imagine there would be a bunch of panicky, inexperienced people running around just firing randomly. Most people aren't going to carry on a gun on them (even though it's their right) but in almost all these cases, if only ONE person did there'd be a better outcome.

You’re missing the argument (-.-) Firearms are like an automobile, when used responsibly and in a mature fashion it is not a deadly weapon but in the wrong hands it can be an extremely destructive thing. Just as a car has to be steered in a direction in order to hurt somebody, a firearm must be pointed, loaded, and the trigger pulled in order to hurt somebody. In both instances, it is the person who is responsible for the devastation that results from the abuse of these devices, not the device.

It isn't guns or gun control that prevent murders. I live in San Jose, California which has California's gun laws and only 1.2 murders per 100,000 people. And then you have Compton or LA with close to 10 murders per 100,000 people with the same gun laws. Cities with ghetto's and low income housing will have more crime. San Jose is a very expensive place to live and because of that, you will have less criminals period.

I would also add that Britain is an Island, as is Australia, as is Japan. Its a hell of a lot harder to keep guns out of people's hands when you have a land border. Gun control laws in the US would end up disarming law abiding citizens while criminals got their guns from Mexico.

As a british person i can understand where Jesse Ventura is coming from, he does make some valid points. But at the same time i dont think this can be called a debate, Piers Morgan has no special knowledge on the issue. I believe SOME americans should be allowed to carry arms, as according to the ammendment (despite it originally having a different meaning and purpose) but that those that can carry them have background checks and stricter controls placed on who can purchase them to stop murders

Also, 2/3 of that 11,000 number that is thrown around are suicides, not murders.

That's like saying owners of cars that can travel at 150 miles an hour will drive at that speed. I have guns but I admit I wish to be rid of them as I have no use for them as I have no desire to harm a living thing and target shooting seems pointless now.

For the record, i'm not against or for this issue, i'm just sick of the same argument being brought up when it's already in place, you can't put something in place that's already there. So don't get the wrong idea, if it wasn't already in place, I would agree with you.

Piers Morgan does not know what he is talking about; he is literally making a fool of himself. Ventura, on the other hand, is amazing. This is an amazing interview, and Ventura spoke the truth and made me respect him. Tremendously. Unfortunately, he has lost my respect with his recent left-leaning publications, and he is no longer the libertarian and freedom fighter (independent thinker) that he was.
