Love how you add interest to the bottoms of your pots. Very attractive & we know the first thing people do is turn the piece over & look at the bottom. A pleasant surprise if it's one of yours! Thanks for sharing!

I love these techniques. I usually sign like you did on the casserole dish. But I put mine in a bottle with a 18 gauge needle thingy and just sign it.

I am eventually going to make my own stamp but in the meantime I'm just a lettering my pieces and how I've done that is a little bit different. As I told you in the past I am a hobby machinist as well at least when my health was better I was doing quite a bit of hobby work and I have massive amounts of tools. In that batch of tools I have little metal stamps with letters on them for stamping words or a number sequence perhaps. I found it this is an awesome way actually I just thought of it and started doing it yesterday LOL but I digress I found it this is an awesome way to not only sign my initials for now but also to number all my pieces so I can keep track of glaze information in a book. I started number two because I don't like number one it's too neurotic of a number LOL anyway I start off at 2 and just write down what kind of glaze combination did I used. Right now I'm trying to develop some glazes and that helps a lot with that as well. Stamping clay tiles is essential because I found out Sharpie Burns off LOL as if it wouldn't LOL But these little metallic letter punch kits I really really cheap on eBay you get them from China but a lot of u.s. sellers sell them as well and you can buy them in various sizes. And basically you can press in as much information as you want because it contains the entire alphabet and numbers one through nine again never used one it's too neurotic

Would you please tell me the colors on your mugs? I love the green inside of the one mug, the purple on the mug and the turquoise on the mashima mug.
@JessicaPutnamPhillips
@JessicaPutnamPhillips 4 жыл бұрын
Sure, the Purple is aglaze called Crown Heights and the green in my Chun Blue just applied thinly on Laguna Bmix5 clay and the turquoise is also my Chun blue but on porcelain and applied thickly. This just shows that how you apply the glaze and the type of clay you use can really change how a glaze looks. These glazes are all available from www.clayscapespottery.com

Basting is a temporary stitch used to hold together pieces of fabric. Usually the longest stitch on a sewing machine. So it’s not a permanent stitch. FYI

I am just starting out, I thought I heard you say underglaze will NOT get on your kiln shelf, that was the carved piece, but on the signed with brush/bottle I thought I heard you say cover with wax...would you clarify that please. Thank you so much, you've taught me so much. Thank you for continuing to serve!

Do you have an alternative to the L3 Diamond Stylus Carving Tool? I like how easily it seems to carve but it is pretty pricey.
@JessicaPutnamPhillips
@JessicaPutnamPhillips 4 жыл бұрын
Kathy B you can use a needle tool or a sgraffito tool. They will work but the diamond core tools give a much better line quality.
@pasajecolon5168
@pasajecolon5168 4 жыл бұрын
Kathy B, the tip of the L3 tool looks just like the Diamond Burr bits for small rotary tools like the Dremel Tool. Search for "Diamond burr bits" on amazon. I would purchase one of the inexpensive bits sets, select a suitable bit, then find a pen with ergonomic cushioned grip (your nearer Dollar store may have some you could use). Remove the ink refill and insert the chosen burr bit in the pen and hold it in place with glue, epoxy glue perhaps.
