Every single follower of Christ has been in the same position as you and have done the same thing... simply from your heart let him know you're sorry for your sins, short comings, and failures. Ask for forgiveness from those sins and ask him to come into your life and change your heart and to give you strength and to lead you on this new path you have now started. There's no magic involved or magic words to say, just cry out for forgiveness and mercy from your heart in truth and he'll hear you and meet you right where you are. Beyond that, take the time to read the Bible, I would start with the New Testament, and find a Christ centered church to attend and start your journey as a follower of Jesus Christ.
