Tithing is not giving. A tithe is mandatory and compulsory. (Malachi 3:8-10) There were three tithes in Israel's Old Testament law. Saved folks today are not under the law. (Romans 6:14) Jesus tells us to stop tithing and start giving in 2 Corinthians 9:7 (1 Cor 14:37)

I have been saying this for about a year now when God opened my eyes to how tithing is used as a form of obligation. Churches should really begin to Teach giving cheerfully according to Christ's principles. I attended a church a few months ago and they didnt take up offering or tithes and I was in shock!!! But I realized they taught the importance of giving with not just money but with time, support, etc. The church had the drop boxes if you wanted to give but we weren't asked!!! I said, "Lord, this church gets it"!!! Thank YOU JESUS!!! When you are truly a giving person, you don't have to be asked or forced.

The Holy Spirit showed me decades ago this in the Bible. That’s why everyone need to read the Word of God for themselves with the help of the Holy Spirit. I faithfully tithe & offering until one day a lady, and her two children were hungry and all I had was my tithes. My church which was a well known rich church told me my tithes go to God. I was so confused and disturbed that, they would let me let this family go hungry. I couldn't let them go hungry, so I went grocery shopping for that family. After that, the Lord led me to leave that church, and he began to teach me himself through the Holy Spirit. Read - Hebrews 5:12; 1 John 2:27. I wish there were Acts 2 Churches in this world. I am not under the law! Thank you for telling the truth!

Unfortunately I think too many pastors in the Charismatic Church, and I'm speaking as a Charismatic but not (hyper), want validation for their ministry now. Instead of waiting to hear the words we all hope to hear from our Saviour, "Well done good and faithful servant. This is why healing (and who doesn't want to see more genuine healings?) signs and wonders etc are so coveted. It's also why they love tithing, the more money coming in the more they're able to build, which is good for their egos. We need to give rightly so that we don't end up giving out of guilt and feeling coerced or manipulated after. God bless all ✝️🙏❤️

I’ve been struggling financially and have even asked the question “where’s my ‘windows of heaven’ blessings since I’ve been giving?” The answer: they’re nowhere because THATS NOT HOW IT WORKS! I absolutely appreciate this, and what I believe to be a true understanding of the tithe. Thank you to the video originator and the man in the video for putting this out there. Jeric Lamb yes that's right mate, it becomes a matter of conscience, which is what God is dealing with, in us. It's a bit like worshipping in spirit and truth, it's not meant to be an organised thing. If the NT said tithe we'd do it gladly. People don't want to study the Bible including some pastors, they've succumbed to the the false teachings they've heard and just carry it on. The issue is people think your stingy or miserly if you don't tithe and that you're against giving to God. Nothing could be further from the truth, Jesus never said don't give, it's just up to us how much we give, and this is scriptural. Read your Bible people and like a Berean check everything. This is more a command from Gods Word than a suggestion.❤️🙏

The Holy Spirit spoke to me and I stayed home from church a couple years ago and devoured information about tithing. I had my eyes OPENED! I still give to my church and very involved but I have been a "truth seeker" for years now and healthier in spirit, emotionally and physically. I am sad with friends of mine who cannot accept something different from what is preached in their church. They often are fearful of change and/or unwilling to change. They are in bondage w/out knowing it. I felt many times when my wage was the only one w/ kids who we sent to our church school plus tithing and offerings on top of that w/ a home as well. Many times, when I put in my tithes, it felt like a bondage. I didn't give with a cheerful spirit all too many times. Once I found out the truth, I was set free! Thank you Jesus! Once you know the truth about tithing, you cannot ever go back but you need to be open to the truth and willing to change.

Since I can remember, junior high high school, college, I have always bought tracts, a book, a Bible, or some Christian gift or card that shares about Jesus for a friend or a something for a hitchhiker (people weren’t afraid of hitchhikers in the 70s so much) Or anyone I have might happen to meet during my travels of the day. It gave me great joy to be able to share something like that and I always thought that that was what I used my tithe money for.… But then some made me feel guilty because I wasn’t tithing and giving things to the church. But I reasoned that I was the Church, capital C and I wanted the privilege of being able to bless people directly instead of putting my money in an offering plate for somebody else to monitor and figure out where to send to somebody on the other side of the world. Especially since I meet people all the time that wouldn’t think of going to church and the church isn’t going to them… But if I am the Church and others like me are the Church then we should all be giving as led by the Lord as we go about our days instead of pouring money into organizations and programs. Oh well that’s my thought on that.

This is EXCELLENT!. Here I'm going to be 74 years old and the TRUTH is I'm just now learning abou t the Truth of this Tithing thing. Oh boy...I could go on and on. For over 50 years I've given b/c I was taught "Tithing. Then several months ago I read a booklet explained much like this and I FINALLY GOT IT. I probably gave out of fear. I was made aware year's ago that there are 3 things if you do in"Secret" God Rewards you openly. PRAYING FASTING GIVING. Matt 6. Basic Institute In Youth Conflicts. Great Life Principle's. Honestly I'm really pretty upset that I was taught wrong from the pulpit for years and years but...Thank God I know better now. I do believe everything he said/shared here is true I use to tell my sister God didn't get the first 10% anyway b/c the government took taxes out first. It's absolutely the TRUTH about churches needing money to support their agendas I do believe. Something else that's upsetting to me is that for over 50 years the church preaches against "worldliness". Now the "World" is completely in the church. I 'm not in Agreement with that. Anyway, Thank You So Much for this EXCELLENT EXCELLENT TEACHING. There's 3 things Jesus said about giving in the New Testament. 1..if you sow sparingly you'll reap sparingly 2..if you sow bountifully you'll reap bountifully. 3..Give and it shall be given unto you.....good measure pressed down shaken together and running over shall men give back into your bosom. God Bless this man!!!

Is a mention in the scriptures of a change of a tithe from food to money? No .Is tithing given by every person under the law? No... only the owner of the crops and animals ... The workers of the fields didn't own what those crops , or the animals , they just got a monetary pay and tithe wasn't about money , what a fishermen will tithe? fish is from the waters not the land , what a carpenter will tithe? a house construction , a table, a chair ? none of that was part of the tithe laws. The letter of Malachi 3 is very clear about the claim of the tithe that is to the nation of Israel , not gentiles nations. If the mailman places the electric bill of your neighbor in your postal box and you opened it and read it realizing the letter is not addressed to you ,would you pay your neighbors bill? Using that letter to cause guilt in a believers , applying the roman law of excommunication for not tithing , because it was Rome who introduce the monetary law of tithing and the penalties for it in the six century causes the person to back slide and the condition of the person become worst , many never came back to the Lord and have died in sin , and if someone instead research the scriptures and find out monetary tithe is not biblical and said something about it , they tried to shut him up by saying but you are not congregating , what an irony , first is accused of not tithing money which is not mention in the bible of such a change , using the word to cause guilt which in turn causes the person to depart from the congregation and now is accused of not congregating by the same people that cause it to leave in the first place with a monetary tithe that is not mention in the bible , that is wrong, Can be argue it that tithe is biblical, however the monetary tithe is not. I wonder do they care more about money than the the soul of that person ? If that is the case the love of money is the root of all evil , then using the words of Malachi 3 to condemn causing guilt ( tithe or leave the congregation) not only is wrong , is evil.

Jesus also wants folks to stop mis-defining the Church. It is NOT a religious organization or an institution. It is the family of God, which is first and foremost assembled in heaven. Giving takes on many shapes and forms, not always money and not even necessarily to a "church". The saints are free indeed and true giving flows from a heart that is walking in relationship with the Holy Spirit. In the Scripture there are no church buildings and neither Paul, nor Jesus, nor any other apostle taught anything about planting/building churches. That isn't to suggest that it's "sin" for people to support a particular organization they find value in, especially if the Lord leads their giving in that, but there is no such requirement or necessity in Scripture. We should give from love and free will to whomever we desire. 2 Corinthians 9:7 says to let each on give as they purpose in their heart. That may be to help a brother or sister in need. It could be to support a family member or a neighbor. It could be to support some Christian work. The point is, the believer is under NO religious obligation whatsoever. Just as too many Christians are playing around with incorrect concepts like tithing and trying to re-define and twist and apply old, dead legalisms into their Christian experience, too many Christians are doing the same with religion; supposing that attending church (which is no less a legalism than tithing) is something the Bible requires. It does not. A person is a member of the family of God because of their faith in Jesus who is the head of the Body; the Church. Membership in an organization qualifies nothing. The Scripture says that if we walk in the Light as He is in the Light WE HAVE FELLOWSHIP ONE WITH ANOTHER... It is our union with HIM that guarantees our fellowship with one another because our fellowship exists FIRST in Him. Joining a "church" does not guarantee true fellowship. We should live for the Lord, follow Him, and walk with Him... He will guide us and even lead us into fellowship with others who are walking the right path in Him. God bless.

I am a Dr. of Theology and have taught against tithing since 1981, people say I tithe according to Abraham nor Moses, but he only tithed once in a lifetime, secondly he started circumcision meaning if you tithe according to Abraham you must circumcise according to Abraham for he started them both, secondly tithing was only for Israel once a year for the Jewish people, no Gentile was allowed to tithe and the tithe must be taken by a Levite form the other eleven tribes of Israel, the tithe was never money but fruits, vegetables, wine, seed, animals and must be eaten before the remainder goes into the house of God, read Lev. 27:30-31 Numbers, Deut. 12-14-26, Amos 4;4 Nehemiah 10-12 Malachi 3:8-11 here God said he wanted MEAT in his house in :11 and not money. Hebrews 7:5 says only a Levite has a commandment to take tithes not Gentiles and most people taking tithes are not levites from Israel but are Gentiles, this is the spirit of error, the New testament teaches giving not tithing

Find him to have all these answers, people will give to those with the big Mega churches and suits. But think on it all those that have tithed. Whatever you purpose in your heart does not exclude tithing, not at all. Tithing is an act of faith. The speaker assigns evil motives to all those who preach the tithe. That is evil to assume it. Abraham gave a tithe to Melchizedek king of Salem and the Priest of God almighty. This was before the law of Moses. Hebrews 7:17 "You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek" (speaking of Jesus). Abraham received blessing for the tithe. This speaker says that God does not want a tithe. Maybe I have purposed it in my heart. Does God not want the offering that is in my heart? DO NOT FOLLOW THIS MAN. HE IS AN ACCUSER OF THE BRETHEREN, as is Satan.

Hey brother where are you? Have you got a church yet? I'm a young man that grew up giving %10 from since I was a kid and my heart wasn't right in giving. Not always but most of the time. I have been away from my home church to seek the truth and another church. I want to give more. And be a blessing but I can't seem to find a church that isn't pushing a bigger building program. I am proud of you and honestly I would love to give you a hug and come attend your church. Your speaking the truth even though it may hurt you since many people will and only have given because of guilt and false teaching. But honestly I believe God is about to pour out his favor on your life. Because of your heart and true willingness to advance the kingdom. God trusting and blessing me with what I have and not commanding me to give. Makes me really want to give more to true people sharing God's truth. Thank you! Thank you for trusting God and his goodness for provision and not men. I think you will find people will be more cheerful. GOD BLESS YOU!

Thank you Philip. God poured out all of His grace & favor on me (Eph 1:3, 8-9) in Christ when He saved my miserable soul from the Hell that I richly deserve through faith in Christ's finished work on Calvary's cross alone. (1 Cor 15:1-4, Eph 1:13) Practically speaking, we receive donations every month even though we teach against tithing, never pass offering plates, and never ask for money. We do have a church building now. www.OhioGraceBible.com

Due to the circumstances in my family, I am the only one who has almost always was working two jobs to support my husband and his needy family overseas. I simply could not afford tithe, but I tried to send a little here and there to support some ministries. I understand now what it is that we are to do with our money. And I am really greatful for this teaching.

Praise the Lord bro for your boldness in the faith. A few year ago when the Lord opened my eyes to this very same understanding it scared me greatly. Primarily because I had not ,in all my years, heard anyone say that. Yet this revelation came in power of the word and wisdom of the Holy Spirit that I could not deny its veracity. I then did some research and found that many persons walking in faith were making this same bold assertion. I also learnt quite a few other things from all of this. Firstly that you cannot discern error with human wisdom. You cannot even discern error with the mere bible. It must be the spirit of TRUTH pointing out lies. There are some lies that look so godly and moralistic that Christians have a hard time detecting and rejecting them. But the simple rule of thumb in detecting all error is: "DOES THE THING PRESENTED STAND IN THE PLACE OF THE PERSON AND WORK OF OUR BLESSED LORD"? Once the answer is yes the alarm goes of.Anything, and I mean anything that takes away from the glory and efficacy of Christ IS A LIE. Alllllllllll things are secondary and subject to Christ even LAW. Anything that claims to curse or burden the people whom God has approved in Christ Jesus is evil. Tithing is a "thing" or a law created to serve Christ not take his place. It can be used as a fundamental principle with tremendous earthly benedit. but NEVER for righteousness as is currently claimed in churches. It can be used as a means of showing gratitude or maintaining discipline and spiritual devotions with regards ones finances. All things are ours in Christ Jesus our Lord and ought to be used freely with love and faith in Christ Jesus. Secondly I would never teach or declare that believers ought not to give a tenth....but what ought to be said is that they who are in Christ are free and are under no lawful obligation to do so. A person can decide he will always give a tenth, two tenths, half or three quarter of all moneys received by him...let such a man do that between himself and God alone. Let him never think that he is obligated to do so with a view to right standing before God. For while the money is in his possession he is free to give or withhold. For tithing is like unto meats and drinks and Sabbath days...Let no man judge you in these things..and let no man think that if he does he is the better or if he does not is he the worst but we are all accepted and approved through our faith in Jesus Christ our glorious Lord.

Well done brother, I am abroad working there, I have my sick mother who fell in a pit latrine and her spinal cord twisted a little bit so she has not been able to walk on her own for like 5 months. Here I found one Pastor online and I told him about my mother and asked him to pray with me, we prayed for 2 days and he started asking me if I pay my tithe, I told him that I don't pay but I always give to anybody in need whether I know him or not when I have, he asked me to pay a 10th of my salary as a tithe to him every month so that he will bless my finances, but I wasn't willing to do so and I never showed it. So he came to realise am not willing to pay and he stopped praying for me. Thanks to the Almighty God I came across this video, this people are conmen, even Jesus Christ Himself did not ask for anything after all the miracles He did. Who are they?? God doesn't want us to stop giving whether it's 10 percent to 100 percent. If a person give 10 percent , 5 percent, or 100 percent out of free will then God has no problem with that. Tithing shouldn't be done out of obligation but if people want to give a tenth freely because they honour God with their money how can we speak evil of that.

I had a lot of guilt in my heart because my husband at the time was the only source of revenue and would not faithfully tithe. Then while studying the word and reading a commentary about tithe, I came to understand that I have no bondage to this. But I should be giving out to help the ministry , the poor and those in need with a cheerful heart. It so important to let the Lord lead you in the word, our churches have a lot of unsound doctrine that keeps on being taught , generation to generation. May God help us all to find the truth and follow Christ wholeheartedly.

Wow all this time and now just discovering this. They would say if we missed tithing, God would take it anyway in the form of unexpected car repairs, medical bills, etc and also said we can't out give God, which yes that is true, but because of that, this couple would give a substantial amount and in due time their utilities would get shut off because they couldn't pay the bill. But it was explained away as something wrong with their faith. 😐

It is a common question these days regarding all walks of administration, "Does it pass the pub test?" I have encountered a clear NO to this question too many times from the pulpit. One was memorable to me. The pastor discussed a counselling situation. He stated with great pride that before he talks to anyone coming to him for counselling, he asks them straight out whether they tithe, and if the answer is NO, he refuses to go any further and sends them away. He was actually proud of that stance. How can that possibly pass the pub test of correct behaviour for a pastor?

Slight counter to that. $10 from you can give one person a meal, but $10 to a food bank lets them give 20 people a meal. If it's a church-run food bank great, but any food bank is good. Let God guide you who and how. And often you'll find He gives you an extra $20 now and then and puts someone across your path whom you can spend that $20 on - over and above what goes to the food bank. Food banks have the means to make arrangements directly with suppliers, so where you can buy a sandwich for $5, they can buy a thousand sandwiches for $100. Most food banks are run by volunteers. You'll know which one to give to if you trust the Lord to guide you.

Isn't it sad to realize wholesale deception in what should be the "pillar and ground of truth." (1 Tim 3:15) Let me ask you a more important question though - what are you trusting for your souls' salvation? i.e. why do you think you'll go to heaven when you die? I hope you're placing your complete faith and trust in the only object of faith that is worthy - Christ's complete work. (1 Cor 15:1-4, Eph 1:13, Rom 4:5, Rom 5:1)

I agree with you on this, brother. I've been researching about tithing for some time now and I see where it's not Scriptural to tithe. I have this thought. In the Bible, we see that tithe was not money. It was fruits, crops, etc. Well, modern day preachers/believers say that we should give money since most of us are not farmers, share cropper, etc. Is it possible that we have devalued money since we are equating money with other things? Can it be that we have been so desensitized to the value of money due to this teaching? Money is way more valuable than fruit in the sense that I can't take a barrel of apples to make my house payment or pay my light bill. I think the teaching of mandatory tithing and substituting money for crops to pay the "tithe" has desensitized us more to the true value of money, thus leading us to more possible poverty. Let's face it: alot of people are poor because they don't know the value of money! And the deceptive teaching of tithe has not helped. I have not seen God bless me more when I'm paying tithes versus when I'm not paying tithes. He is faithful because He IS my provider! He's not my provider because I did or did not pay my "tithes"! Some who are opposed to this video and opposed to this teaching need to let this sink in.

I felt this was very insightful. I do agree we are not obligated to give a percentage and I have always felt that. I think it is misleading for a church to teach that, but at the same time because of our selfish nature, we can look for excuses to give little and I can say for my myself, I have to check my heart on that. I do think we need to suppport our local church and should, but it should be what is on our hearts to give, like it says in 2 Cor 9:7. I don't see how Jesus is commanding us not to tithe from this scripture, but I know he is not commanding that we do tithe. He leaves it up to us, but is pleased when we do give from the heart.

you are so right. for me it was tithe, 25 years ago found that was tradition. Then 6 yrs ago found added word (gifts) in 1cor12:1 which enabled me to understand the one gift is holy spirit which can MANIFEST in any believer in any of those 9 ways as examples, in any meeting of believers... not individuals power gifts. Think swiss army knife, the whole thing is the gift, it manifests all sorts of blades etc. Then following year went looking for more misunderstandings... trinity. Heaven at death. Hell fire eternal torture. spritual israel being church. They went down like 9 pins. Huge awakening and empowering. beware the leaven of pharisees (which same religious spirit lives in traditional religious church)

I think that when people tythe to a church, everyone is like under a curse. The people are cheated out of their money, which they sometime need it a lot for essential things, and the pastors either get more greedy and become more evil, or the Church always is small. It never grows. the reason being that not all of the congregation tythe like they are taught. people in the world don’t want to give their hard earned money away. So they rather don’t go to church. I have seen the latter many times. I believe that if you are allowed to give under grace, more people would go to church and churches would grow, and the gospel would be preached more. More people would be saved.
