On this Malaysian food vlog, we travel to Kota Bharu to try the most popular rice dishes in Kelantan, including nasi tumpang (beautiful shape and history!), nasi impit (Ivana's favorite!), pulut pagi, nasi kerabu (always amazing), nasi dagang, nasi berlauk (a pleasant surprise for Steve!), nasi ayam, nasi sate, nasi lemak, and more!
We went to Ayang Cafe to try the rice dishes, and we were also served some popular roti from the cafe including roti Ayang which is similar to roti Titab from Kopitiam Kita.
We had a great time trying delicious Malaysian food, Malaysian street food, and famous food in Kelantan.

The cassava is ubi rebus with shredded coconut but u can eat it with Nasi lemak sambal or salted fish too.. And the tofu is called Tahu Begedil.. Btw I am from Singapore.. Love watching that both of u love Malaysian food. And please come to Singapore when the Covid is over..

Steve and Ivana..woww arrays of nasi..Meat kerutup is authentic dish in Kelantan..instead of rendang..we cook kerutup..nasi impit+glutinous rice+shreded coconut+beans so delicious..missed it so much

The fried banana kuih is called cekodok pisang.. We mixed riped bananas with sugar, flour & water for the batter & fry the batter. It's local favorite. We will have them either for our breakfast or tea time in the evening. Yumm

Ada lagi makanan yg unik di Kelantan, nasi kerabu pun ada varian tersendiri. Nasi kerabu 'kerabu darat atau kerabu pijat' perghh lagi sedap. Tp jarang org buat nasi kerabu pijat ni. Selalunya kerabu pijat akan dijual asing dan di kedai yg jual nasi kerabu pun sangt2x jarang org sediakan kerabu pijat ni. Stakat ini aku xjumpa lagi review or vlong food yg cover nasi kerabu, kerabu pijat or darat ni.

ivana favourites : nasi himpit with sambal kelapa hitam. how to make sambal kelapa hitam. - shreded coconut need to fry without oil. fry it until get brown colour. then cool it down. after that, smash the coconut with mortar until turn to paste. - meanwhile, prepare onion, lemon grass, ginger, garlic and fish meat (baked)...and smash all the ingredients seperately without water. - when all ingredients ready (turn to cream/paste condition)..mix all together then taste it before serve. im sure ivana knows how to prepare nasi himpit..you was cook it before. i hope you'll try to make it.

Cassava with shread coconut. Old folk told that during ww2 when japan attack malaya, japan seize all paddy field and rice. They take controlled over the rice. So, due to not enough rice..people start eating cassava to replace rice during japan occupation. For old folk eating cassava with coconut brings back memories and nostalgic feeling during japan invasion..the strugle.

In Melaka, normally we eat boiled cassava with sambal from nasi lemak..you should try it too, savory dishes for breakfast or evening tea times..

Why food and kuih in kelantan is much more sweeter than the other state, because people in kelantan love sweet food.. so everything is sweet: sambal, soup, gravy, kuih, everything.. and yummy.. and easy to get diabetes..
