Getting seriously interested in this VW. What was the final tank to tank figure. I have found on all my cars the on board computer is always out. I estimate you ran at under 6ltrs/100 if you put in 80ltrs for the 1340km. Great article.

We managed 1340km on 97.5-litres giving us an average of 7.4l/100km. The tank is quite large, admittedly. [Chad]

+AutoTrader for a beast that has 250kw &800nm that's great, much better than the older 1000nm v10 which we could not get under 14ltrs/100. Guess I am trading in!

Such a strange test. First, VW already tell us the actual range and you came within a few K's of it, so all good, nothing new there. But then you ramble on about being 'comfortable, ...don't stress, blah blah blah'. This wasn't a test of continuous driving or time, as you so consistently rant. So why, did we only see you against the clock? Why didn't you pull up and smell the flowers? Why not show us a favourite coffee shop or a nice picnic spot? Why not pull up and take a half hour walk and show us the wondrous countryside? Why a straight-through drive against the clock ('slow down a little') when you were wanting to highlight the benefits of range? What's your point exactly? 'Jhb to CT on 1 tank...' is the name of the story. It isn't called 'Caffeine your way to Ct from Jhb' , so really I have to ask, what's your point? The thing is, we'd might see more scenery from an aisle seat of a 727 than we got to enjoy from your story. Isn't your story about "driving" 1,400K through South Africa without emptying our pockets on a gas guzzler??

It’s simple! The test was to see if they can get a V8 TDI Touareg from one end of the country to the other on one tank of fuel! Don’t like it don’t watch it!
