I had a friend that went to his high school in England. It was expensive & during the rare moments he was there, the students were told not to speak to him.And when he ate in the cafeteria he sat on a raised dias with the trustee's. I find it interesting how he refers to himself in the third person, i.e. "the boy." I also find it interesting how he says that "nothing penetrated him" (mentally) because he was "vague" and "dreamy," as a boy and young man. So when he finally began speaking his mind, it wasn't an issue of having "doubts" about what the Theosophists expected of him, as much as it simply being an issue that all their expectations for and of him simply didn't "stick" in his mind. He saw clearly how they simply didn't apply to him. Talk about hollow expectations! What a shock it must have been for all those who had invested so much of their lives and money to set up the "world teacher" to then have him desolve it all from one day to the next! The irony, of course, is that they were indeed "clairvoyant" for they were not wrong. He indeed would become a world teacher, just not in the way they thought and expected he would . . . Something that K is leaving out of his recollection, if I'm to trust the biography I read years ago on his life, is that it was actually the sudden and unexpected death of his brother that caused him to question everything the Theosophists had inculcated in him. From what I recall, his brother had suffered with an ailment for some time, but they assured K that he, the brother, would be fine. K was extremely close to his brother growing up, since the two of them had been extricated from their home and family in India and taken away to England to be educated. So when the brother died, it rocked his foundation and trust in all those around him, and this was the real cause for his realization that everything he had been brought up to believe was an illusion, if not an outright lie. It was then that he turned his back on the Star of the East and the theosophists and struck out on his own, ultimately fullfiling the role he was predestined to be, that of world teacher.

You can see why people were taken by that quality of vacancy he had. Almost like a natural instinct that many of us lose as we go through life. He maintained it all his life. Nothing and no one got to him. I could be wrong here, but he always spoke from that vacancy. Which is probably silence. And may be why he could point out all this stuff most of us have difficulty seeing. Vacancy or silence, seems to put all that aside. Vacancy itself is nothing special, or to be worshipped, or take a drug for. I always think of that interview with one of JK's friends at Brookwood Park that said: "When I first met him, I didn't think he had a brain." Funny and true at same time.

You would be wrong. I think he had massive blind spots just like most humans, putting his very fine work to the side. Vacancy? He said memory is always there but needn't intrude psychologically. That's not vacancy. He said to use it when needed, say e.g., fixing a car which he claimed himself able to do.

@@TokyoShemp Of course I'm not saying he was vacant from morning til night. And still used knowledge, etc, when required. He's human like us after all. Well the meaning of vacancy means: not occupied/empty space. And i think his mind was far less occupied than me for example. I'm quite the chatterer inwardly unfortunately haha. But even i can see that K didn't have that chattering mind like many of us do. That what i was getting at.

The best thing he ever said was to stop looking at himself as important to the message or as an entertainment. You are imho fixating on words seeking to form a system to live by. It's about spectrums and dormancy. We must think for ourselves. Things did get to Krishnamurti and he was anything but perfect. He admitted that because deep down he had flaws and was as messed up as anyone. He was as conditioned as anyone despite thinking otherwise. I saw scarce video of him living it up, as in egotistically. I watched him on many occasions be rude to people or get agitated towards them. He would have exposed Theosophy for the demented society destroying herd mentality it has become if he had truly become self-actualised. Krishnamurti was overrated. I did it too. I thought he was great, too. Then I found out the most honest thing he ever said was that he wasn't anything special.@@Scott-M1

⚠️ Leadbeater and Anne Bessant predicted right. Krishnamurti would be a kind of a "world teacher", but not the way they thought it would be. Krishnamurti maintains that in spirituality, there can't be no authority at all, no masters, no saviours, no belief systems, no gurus. Every person should be a light to itself. Discover IF there's something "sacred" beyond the limitations of "thought" by themselves. In other words, everybody should track their own path, not following any book, any religion, any system. This is very difficult, because it assumes that each of us should discover through a life journey, as Buddha did. But almost no people are interested in discover who they are. They want someone to tell them who they are, or what they are. This is so absurd, as the guy who arrived at a hotel, asking to the receptionist, who is he. So, K. teaches on a different way: He asks questions, to awake each one to their own answers. He points the problems, and offers ways and doubts. He wants everyone to discover by themselves. ( ... Don't believe what I say... K. ) 🙏👍❤️

When you put yourself inside a box, everything outside the box is taught to be wrong. Everyone is wrong, but us, so we have to bring e everybody to our box or kill the infidels ! Imagine there's no religion, no sacred books, no ancient doctrines written by lost people loster than we are. Let's perceive if there's something sacred beyond intellectualism. That's the way it should be, not believe on religions imposed by our society, by the eternal conditioning that all mankind are imposed since birth, family, schools, society, etc. But see, when not helped by any lie or fairy tail, men have fear. Wow so interesting. But not every Theosophy group is the same and this isn’t the aim of modern day Theosophy. This is a different sector. Annie Besant, in India. I have listened to many ULT Theosophical classes online and they preach against praising/worshiping the “personality.” So, when I see this/hear this, I know one has to be acquainted with Theosophical history, origins and the different off-shoots to truly understand that groups branched off, and not all of those groups or ideas were truly aligned with true Theosophical beliefs/teachings.

Being a light to oneself is a lot easier said than done. In reference to the orthodox Christian Churches, I would say there is very little one could glean from their dogma. It's been so twisted and diluted since St. Paul got a hold of it. In relation to Gurdjieff and his teaching, that is a method of waking up the true conscience. Gurdjieff taught a method of waking up. Different than that of yogis or Buddha etc.. Was there anything similar? I am not fully qualified to say, however Gurdjieff taught that Buddhism and other practices as they exist today are lopsided teachings. I believe if one picks up Gurdjieff's Opus Magus, "BEEZLEBUB'S TALES TO HIS GRANDSON" and were to read it from beginning to end. (first read is difficult- it becomes more palatable on each successive read), then perhaps one will recognize why I consider the book a sacred text. Also read "In Search of the Miraculous" and "The Fourth Way" both by P.D.Ouspensky.(Gurdjieff's top pupil) read and try to understand what is being given, one can do quite a bit on one's own IF you understand :Beelzebub's Tales". "Conscious labor and Intentional Suffering" is the teaching. It IS the Work. There are free resources on line to help with the understanding. You will have to discern which are valuable. If it is providing good information, you will know. Reading Beelzebub repeatedly IS a must. The other requirement is 'morning sitting'; essentially morning meditation for an hour if you can. This IS required. I was surprised to find many of the exercises taught by the Gurdjieff Group in California are exactly the same as those taught by the Rosicrucian order. Search KZfaq for this: "Rosicrucian practice or teaching" People need to understand why they are doing these practices. Gurdjieff explains all that in his great book. If one is on the path and searching and has a wish, then read the book. The two titles by Ouspensky highly recommended. Do you need to be part of a Gurdjieff "work group"? Maybe...to start with, however if you haven't read "Beelzebub's tales", why would you seek out a group? Because you're being lazy. Many people open Beelzebub and never make it through the opening chapter, because it IS a difficult read. It does get easier. This could be Gurdjieff's intention to ferret out those without a sincere wish. If you want enlightenment spoon fed, join Scientology (bring your checkbook). I respect Krishnamurti, but I disagree. This why history is filled with teachers and initiates. I worked with two different Gurdjieff groups over a 15 to 20 year period. I found them useful , but there can also develop an unhealthy dependence on an organization and perhaps even a saturation point. The work IS after all, on Oneself. Meditation and reading and studying Beelzebub IS the start. The nuances are in the two recommended Ouspensky books. Don't give up. Peace & Love.

The advent of mysticism itself has generated a host of fictions, redundancies, and entrenched beliefs that continue unchallenged to this day. This is my challenge, which none of the gurus/influencers or their students/believers or whatever have taken me up on to date. Premise: A metamorphosis of the human being and the human condition is not only desirable but vital to our sustainability. To accomplish such a daunting transformation is "not" the domain of philosophy, academia, or some therapeutic encounter with a so-called teacher, practice, or community, but rather of "enterprise", itself, radically formatted for the task. Case in point, we have made it our primary industry to kill one another in order to defend our collective greed, inner fears, hostilities, addictions, and distractions that have also been made into massive profit centers, along with hospitals, pharmacies, herbal remedies and the like to cure us from the same. Nowhere have we proceeded with the same intent to harness our creative energies to profoundly change all aspects of our lives and world. The idea that there is a spiritual reality apart from our secular condition is itself a form of mass hypnosis and a schizoid state, introduced and fortified from birth to grave. K rejected theosophy as a trap, and here, I am rejecting K, not as an enlightened individual, but as a movement that he himself was exhorting everyone to reject in order to discover that primal or primary truth hidden behind the veil. I could say more, but to what purpose when genuine curiosity is in very short supply and even shorter demand.

I have no concentration to listening to this :-/ I just want to state a few things from my opinion: I don't like the (possible) concept of Gurus, an essential person that You never can reach and this in some sense as the concept of pedestalization of Saints = a never reachable thing. Don't get me wrong, they are to me and You prob. not reachable but it is the hindrance in the attempt comming them near = the attempt to try to get so much better that You can deem this as a personal growth = a partial step/attempt towards the Saints as in opposition to the mentioned unconstructive pedestalization. (Maybe I'm wrong with any of this, please note my will for growth, the good and honesty towards God!) Now, maybe he is reffering to hinduism and even if not, there is a hughe issue in the Religions, thus the path to the greater truth is narrow but however not that essential! If You read the Quran where God is, from some aspect, just for some, actually ok with the problematic Christian take on Jesus is God. Anyway, You can picture the religious and "mind" issues from how the Sihk started: "Christianity and the Quran bear some teuth however not to the fully and we are starting therefore an new Religion" ok, I have to be diplomatic: If the Sikh are wrong, it would only uncover the everfailing fine AND weak human junction between the intellect, emotions and belief as well as the un-truthful and not so good listening to other not-truthful and not so good; The naked lead the blind.
