Congrats Brandon! Jig Leaders from Fish Karma IG: @the_fish_karma / the_fish_karma Facebook: fishkarma 40n Fathom, to ensure low gear for time being, use the factory one if you modded it, I'll still try to test further on mine.

Thanks for watching Sam. The line, crimp, and hardware are all legit. Price is really affordable, two other buddies picked some up from him as well. Good luck and get bit 🤙

I started to make my own leaders, but this guy makes good quality leaders as well as Assist hooks. I ordered some of the assist hooks.

I was looking at crimp kits last year and just didn’t pull the trigger. Def a great addition to the tackle. Oh awesome, his assist hooks looks great! I’ll have to order some of those too. Hopefully we get to test these out soon 🙏 thanks for watching bro!

@@Seastheday88 as for crimp kits I would just be careful with that, you might buy crimps you wont ever use. I buy the crimps I will fish basically making your own kit.

@@socalsteve22 Thanks for that suggestion. Agreed, the kits was lots of sizes I’ll prob never use. Appreciate it bro🙌

I have the same visx handle on the 40n 😂Thanks for the heads up!
@Seastheday882 жыл бұрын
The problem may possibly due to over cranking the nut holding the handle arm in place. I backed off a tad but won’t know for sure til we hook up 😬

The low gear problem is because the Nut that locks the handle CANNOT be overtightened. There are shims on that nut made to create a short space inbetween the handle and the nut which raises it a little bit to create space for the next plate that locks in with a C clip. If it is overtightened the c clip will lock down onto that plate which needs to be free in order to work the 2 speed mechanism.
@fieshyfish2 жыл бұрын
Also just make sure its tightened to a point where the handle has no more play, the nut will not back off since it has the retainer. Ive been send like 8 reels with this problem now, and every time they are over tightened. Overtightened nuts also destroys the stock washer.

Bro. We’re going to need to go in-depth chats. Lol I’ve been trying to find info on everything from 360tuna, thehulltruth, bd, Alantani, etc and not the info I’m looking for. That little detail explain why that nut was so easily to loosen, I’ll try this. Thank you brotha 🙏🙏
@Seastheday882 жыл бұрын
@@fieshyfish I’ll do that right now, back off the nut torque. I did a quick test placing lever to Full tied to 20lb of lead and seemed fine so far. No telling what will happen on the waters. Where you based out of? You got a wealth of knowledge with reels.
@Seastheday882 жыл бұрын
The oem Fathom handle arm is 4mm thickness, while the International is 5mm thickness. Would that affect the shimming as well even if I torque the nut correctly? Thanks
@fieshyfish2 жыл бұрын
@@Seastheday88 glad it worked, i sent all that on phone without a schematic to name those parts so wasnt sure if it made sense lol. Im out of San Diego, and fish very regularly inshore and less regularly offshore. I have worked on almost every reel out there, and i have serviced more penns than any other, tons of fathoms and torques, so i know them pretty well by now. I have seen all kinds of failures and mistakes made by owners inside of them (like the overtightened nut, lol) so i can pretty easily trouble shoot problems in them If it was tightened correctly (not too tight or too lose) it will hold and preform without any problems. They come like that out of factory and ive never seen them fail when done correctly.

Alan Tani offers some cool handle options that utilizes the stock bar. An option for your aftermarket handle is to throw it in a vise and take slow passes at it with a file, or if you know how to sharpen chisels, go that route.
@Seastheday882 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suggestions Danny 🤙This was def on the board as I want to retain the bar. I may resort to Alan Tani knobs too as I’ve been wanting it for my Talicas Also read @soul comments. He mentions the international handle should be fine. I did have the nut cranked just a bit. But backed off some and tested with 20lb weights and worked so far. 20lb isn’t 80+ so I’ll test out more options. 🙌

I caught a 250 on my torque 60 with that same handle conversion… wouldn’t lock into low gear. Brutal fight. I switched back to the original handle.

@@paulkim8755 yeeeewwwww! Heck yeah 🙌🙌🙌 Regarding the handle. I plan to grind of the top of the rivet and swap just the T-Bar over. I’m hoping this solves it.
