Excellent tips. I especially liked your suggestion to stand up and look at the puzzle from a distance. This has helped me to find the very piece I needed once I had a different perspective.

Thanks for the advice Yesterday I just happened to see two unopened jigsaws in one of the local charity shops, but thought nothing of it so left them. Then, last night after taking my wife to work I was watching KZfaq and for seemingly no reason there was a video about the jigsaw world championships, which I watched and seemed hooked on. I then watched a couple more, then your three videos on the subject. I'm thinking, at 65 they could maybe be useful for keeping the brain functioning, so today I went out and bought the two I saw yesterday and two other ones. I'll try the first one shortly .. it's only 500 pieces but I guess, you have to start somewhere. Maybe I can try a 24,000 piece puzzle when I get more experienced ... and find the space for it too. Regards from Whitley Bay, UK

By all means start with an easy one. As with crosswords, the easier ones train your mind, so that you can gradually work your way up. I'm doing 2000 piece puzzles now, which take me about 3 weeks to complete. I don't work on it every day. But having learned how to orient the pieces, I don't get frustrated, knowing things will come together in the end. Happy puzzling!

@@yourbodymindandhome1926 Many thanks for your comment. I actually started my first puzzle today .. was waiting for the dining table to be clear, having had our children home for a few days over Christmas.. luckily they have gone now. I managed to get all the edges done this evening so will start again tomorrow.

I’m quite experienced but as an example I’ve gone through a 2000 piece jigsaw up to four times before I’ve got all the Flats!

Yes I now only go through them once for edge pieces, and put together as much as I can from that. Then I start the sorting and by the time I'm done I have all the edge pieces I missed. I'm always amazed at how many I miss!

1:13 i like that the first thing you do is to over see an edge pices. kinda sad, but great video anyways : - )

Why the hate? It happens to all of us. I have never separated a puzzle and not miss an edge. I don't miss edges when I separate the pieces by shapes from the start, but then I always have at least one piece in the wrong pile.

@@yourbodymindandhome1926 Thank you😃 ! 1 tip I use, is my 📱📱iPhone as a camera. So I can ZOOM in on hard to see pieces. (I take a picture without a glare. By The Way: My Heritage arriving this Saturday. I never ever strayed away from Ravensburger, however, going to trust you and give it a try. Ordered 2 of them! LOL 🧩. Brigitte in Tulsa Oklahoma

Wait. Are all the pieces the same shape? What is that called so I can be sure not to buy a puzzle like that?
@yourbodymindandhome19263 жыл бұрын
That was a Eurographic puzzle. They have some nice ones, but I was surprised when I realized the non-edge pieces were all the same shape.

maybe I missed it, by when you were putting the sign together, did you first have to search through the box for all the colors and shapes? Dumb question, but newbie to this hobby.

Not sure what you mean by sign.

@@yourbodymindandhome1926 I worry about me...I do believe I meant puzzle! I re-watched and gathered you get the side pieces first and then go to colors. I was thinking as I take out the pieces from the box I would be doing both at once. Guess it's a matter of choice?

All this sorting/aligning is too much work. I just dump all the pieces on the table. Turn them all right side up and pull out the edge pieces. Put the edges together and then just start finding pieces that fit together.
@yourbodymindandhome19262 жыл бұрын
I think the sorting of the edge pieces to start is just sort of my ritual. I like just having the edge pieces to work with at first. The other sorting is definitely annoying, but I find it makes the process of putting everything together a lot easier for me, so I go through it since I know the reward of having things grouped will make the process more enjoyable from then on. But definitely do what works for you!
