Someone knew that Dando would be coming home that day at that time. She hadn't been home for a while and was rarely there. It's someone she worked with, or someone she had a relationship with. I remember Nick Ross struggling to present Crime Watch shortly after. It was shocking and disturbing that a woman who seemed to be happy in both her career and life was cruelly ripped away from her family for what seemed no reason at all. Sleep tight Jill Dando.😔

Nick Ross was interviewed on her murder in the last few weeks and he is adamant that it was B.G. The gun was amateur and adapted by an amateur and it is possible that an obsessed stalker would actually sit in her garden, day after day, waiting for her to come home. He said that the theories on it being a 'hit' were nonsense. It is possible that he is right. I always thought that it was a 'hit' by someone who knew her movements

I actually think the Serb gangster angle is more sensible. There was a Serb TV presenter similar to Jill Dando who was apparently killed in an airstrike, so could be that revenge was sought. Plenty of people 'found out' about you-know-what and if she was about to out you-know-who, then the entire source material and any programme she had produced would have been worked on by multiple people and plenty of BBC managers would have seen it. Therefore she can't be the only one who knew. Rumours about Mr. NowthenNowthen had been going on for yonks anyway. To keep that under wraps would have been like Bob from Blackadder II i.e. kill everyone in the whole world.

Man I remember so vividly when I heard about this. I’d just heard about it on the radio in my car when I realised I needed fuel. I pulled into a petrol station and as I was queuing to pay I looked over at the magazine rack and Jill Dando was on the front of the latest Radio Times standing in front of a James Bond style Aston Martin. I was already deep in thought over it but to then look over and see her smiling face staring out was a weird moment that I’ve always remembered. It felt so sad coz she looked so happy and was enjoying her life and now it had been snatched away. Just felt crazy and is one of those stories that still crosses my mind a lot. RIP.

I always said it was a hit..it was done too quickly & quietly & they knew exactly how to hold her down & where to put the bullet..i always thought barry was a scapegoat..it saddens me that people are too focused on convicting someone even if they did'nt do it,than get the real culprit..that is not justice but i did'nt know also that they came forward admitting they done it..just disgusting..hope the lovely jill is resting in peace..lovely video & new sub..❤

For the most part, Barry George fitted the profile. He was a weirdo gun nut with a proven history of generally 'pestering' women - this is fact and he has convictions for that. But I think he was just too stupid for something like this. He's really quite a 'slow' man from what I've seen.

The gun modification and bullet crimping may suggest the killer intentionally thought out such a scenario, interestingly, it's often overlooked. But in military takedown techniques, when tackling or subjecting a target with the most stealthiest approach. The subject is brought down to the ground as to limit the discernibility from the surroundings,It's often performed in combat in the field. But Jill's procrastination and the time it took her to reach her front door from setting her distinctive car alarm dents this somewhat for me. It's only a theory, but it's possible her killer conversed with Jill. For me this would exclude a professional hitman. Presenting a plausible explanation that he was known to her.

I was a car controller at the BBC. I spoke to Jill Dando, on the phone, and booked her final car on the Tuesday morning. We had three Serbian drivers at the time. One of them threw a chair at the stage door television screens in TV Centre. I reported them to the police and one was interviewed but nothing ever came of it. It is not true that she was an occasional visitor to her Fulham house. She was there most of the time, particularly on work days. That was the whole point of having a house in that area. All the drivers knew where she lived. An eyewitness described a man in a suit carrying a mobile. All of our drivers looked like that. It's why I reported it. If the Serb connection is true, it is possible that the attack was carried out by a driver or they passed on information to an assassin. When I began working there, I was amazed at the access the drivers had to public figures. Some drivers might have started that day and we had no real knowledge of their background. I suggested prominent figures should have a designated driver but this was not possible. Anyway, that's my tuppence worth. Security was very lax in those days. Jill Dando was always very polite on the phone. God bless her and her family.

The well known and famous aside, though of course tragic for anyone to die before their natural time is up, I find gravestones fascination and heartrending. even very very old headstones that have below them children, young teens young adults. These are the final resting places of those who were too young to die, but of course through foul means or not the end of a life far too early. The headstones some unkempt and forgotten are a lasting marker of lives past.

Dando's father died on his 91st birthday in February 2009, having lived through all those years of Barry George being in the spotlight and the legal proceedings. He was still alive when George was acquitted. Her brother Nigel is 70 now.
