British GQ and Jim Chapman. As avid and keen suppliers to the textile industry throughout the UK and working with our customers in a range of industries, it really is great to see yourself and also, GQ promoting British Manufacturing and also how garments are actually made. We go through this on a daily basis and want to spread the word on how much time and effort goes in to making products/garments that have such design and quality put into them. Hope to see you at Meet the Manufacturer at Brick Lane, London in May!

Turnbull and Asser also make bespoke shirts. I think the minimum order is still six. That gives a better fit than factory made shirts.

Stop saying that "the material and man hours" are the reason these shirts cost more. That's not accurate. It may account for a fraction of the cost, but only a fraction. The main reason they cost more is because of marketing and branding.
@niladri82
@niladri82 6 жыл бұрын
You're right. But, a company can't say that out prices are high because we've used marketing to inflate the perceived value of the product. They have to say there are logical reasons like material and man hours.
@MarcusCato275
@MarcusCato275 6 жыл бұрын
Plus competition from high street clothing brands. Their products are cheaper so more people by it. Plus they are modern and easily accessible for the ordinary shopper. Established traditional shirt makers that charge a lot because the vast majority of people aren't aware they exist as most people are used to high street shops and if they shop for expensive items they think flashy designer brands are the best. Old and established clothing shops make business with men who are discerning and are confident enough to shop in such stores which appears like gentlemen's club. Because of this sales aren't high so prices go up to compensate and the salesmen have to over stress the quality of the product to justify the high price point.

Comparing episode 1 and 2 shows what London tailors are famous for. It's the suit, not the shirt. Suits from Savile Row are made from scratch - individually for every customer. Shirts from Turnbull & Asser are of good quality but at the end of the day you get a product that many people wear as well and probably does not fit you perfectly. A suit from Savile Row is art, these shirts are only very good. To find real bespoke shirts, nowadays continental europe ist the place to go.

NewWorldOrderFAIL I am not wearing bespoke shirts since I feel I can't afford to pay more than 200 Pounds for a shirt. My shirts are from Emanuel Berg for example. Gino Venturini in Vienna is from what I have heard an excellent bespoke shirt maker.
