What Eric said was he met with Bret in 1996 in LA with Barry Bloom. That was during the year Bret took off to act. He said coming out of the meeting him and Bret kind of became good friends. I guess Bret sent him a gun that was a collectors item. However he never made an offer to Bret Hart and always felt that the meeting was put in place to get more money from the WWE. I can’t remember if he says if the contract exists prove him wrong, but he was only ever offered a contract in 1997.

I guess the Bruiser Brody Dark Side of the Ring is what got me to look Cornette up again (had listened to a bit of the podcast and watched some of the shoots in the past). Yup, it's a really fantastic show for a real deal 'behind the scenes' made for the 43 minute mainstream, I don't think they could've done much better given the framework of a TV show. Even when Hall came on with the whole conspiracy garbage, I understood exactly why they put that in there(in each episode, it feels like they've really tried to offer all sides of the story as best they can within the limitations) - and, besides, they barely gave it any screen time which should suggest to viewers that it's a bit of an "out there..." theory. Really great show, and it's really annoying to hear about people shitting on it. Obviously they're going to leave out a LOT of information, and, yea, maybe they aren't being 100% accurate with the representation("Brett's last night" thing) because they can't present 100% of the information - but, within the context of REALITY, the limitations of a 43 minute long TV series, I couldn't be much more impressed to be honest. Of course, when you see all of the faces/names involved, it's not surprising that it's of such high quality too. Featuring people like Corny, or Tony Atlas telling the bulk of the Bruiser Brody story, Mick Foley/Dutch Mantel narrating, these people aren't going to let this turn into some convoluted fabricated bullshit.

Would Jim cornette hate me if I say I respect him and Vince Russo. I think them both are great at what they do. They don't see eye to eye but they both have compassion for wrestling and what they do. Like chefs. Not many chefs will cook the same dishes the same exact way.. will disagree on recipes to use but it's the buyers costumers' opinion matters the most st the end. The chefs are still passionate about their dishes . Same as these 2. Passionate and you can find people who liked and or dislikes their stories their wrestling knowledge wrestling style of story telling. Same time. Lots who dislikes either can still agree when they where around wrestling was way better than it is now.

Im thinking that WCW handled Sting/Hogan storyline better than any storyline ive ever seen, EVER and ive seen tons. Ref counts 3 HOGAN WINS, HART INTERCEDES, says previous shady ref counted too fast (he CLEARLY didnt in spite of WCW announcers saying he did) then HART counts 3 STING WINS! Many strange wrestlers to WCW jump in ring to celebrate. nEXT NITE HOGAN STING 2 takes 2 weeks for viewer to find out what happened, that sets up THUNDER,more ref follies where you can clearly see 3 counts.....oh man. LAYERS and LAYERS of storyline from TWO COMPANIES ALL CAME TOGETHER. Absolutely brilliant. Best ive ever seen.SOO frustrating theres more...

I wonder if Jim has seen Jordynne Grace lately. She could probably break Kofi Kingston in half with a bearhug. Kofi would probably still win, but I'm sure Jordynne could match him for a while strength for strength.

I gotta say, I've been hearing Dave Meltzer radio show since 2001. And if you go back and hear the man around 2000-2003 he was so energetic as a host and later a co-host. The last 5 years has made Meltzer too jaded and uninteresting. Bryan Alvarez is pretty good now, but this is the first time I've heard Dave Meltzer show a level of enthusiasm. Around 1:15:05 he's having a blast. Goes to show you what happens when you watch wrestling for this long without breaks. I can barely watch WrestleMania let alone Raw episodes.

A little Wild Bill ballpark look at what was really going on the whole time . . . Vince . . . Shawn . . . forcing you to work with Russo . . . all of the "wtf" inring injuries inflicted by top professional athletes upon one another . . . for the last 30 years. The partying, the drugs, the booze, the terrible concession food . . . Paul Wight and Layfield picking on the newbs . . . everything. Every bit--from HGH to some notably unusual out-of-ring experiences. Vince was the puppet master. All you guys . . . every single one . . . were his dolls and the Wrestling business was his doll house. Jim-you know how brilliant, how obsessive, how compelled, he is. Playing the devil, he brought every one of you into a private hell . . . as Sartre did in his immortal "No Exit". Every word, every gesture, every whisper into a receptive ear, every unreasonable or stupid or last minute altered, finish was a work. And still is, because, as you are aware, he just can't let go. Think back--not at the coincidences, but at the whole tapestry of the art and science of making money with sports--like entertainment. Vince is, and has long been, a Marvel Super Villain. He plays with minds, with events, with initiatives . . . even Linda is a work. All that under the table cash makes him irresistible, impossibly attractive. Anything he wastes . . . and he seems to waste millions . . . is done for sound financial reasons*. He always profits. He never loses. Never. I understand that, with your genius and compulsive observation, you are positive I'm wrong about this . . . and even that is a work. Vince's vulnerabilities--the things we joke about--are works. Steph and Chyna was a work. Owen and Steve Austin was a work. Punk and Ryback was a work. Heenan's injury was a work. And you, one of the sharpest men ever, are convinced it's not. Scary, ain't it? 30% of the whole country was conned by a carny and nobody--ever--saw it. Not even the smarks. I bet he'd give Thanos a run for his money. Or Doctor Doom. He might be the greatest Marvel Super Villain of all time. *In business, if you spend almost all your dough, but crush your competitors in the end, then you own the market and can write off all that loss. It is, effectively, free money.

Out of us all, I see farthest, because the money does not cloud my judgment. Not because I am a superior being. But because the way I am broken in my soul acts as a green lens that can't see money as a cure for anything. It doesn't cure sadness. It can't make you happy. It can't heal the wounds in your soul. It can only tempt you to live in the Northeast (which everyone knows you hate with sweet passion), and tempt you to work with Vince Russo. See where I'm going with this? Of course you do. You're probably smarter than I am. I know Vince is.

Wow! I was going back, wondering what famous historical figure he best resembles . . . Peter the Great (who used real soldiers to play army)? Napoleon (who ruined nations for fun and profit)? Frederick the great (who had a grenadier battalion made up of giant men)? Otto Bismarck (the prima donna grand chess player)? Because he has clearly exceeded P.T. Barnum. Any suggestions?
