I had a wealth of GI Joe's and the WWF wrestling ring from the early to mid '90s and yes he is correct, they were the best action figures to use for wrestling. Tony doesn't do a thing. He's clearly not playing with a full deck, and his dad can afford to put him in positions so he can say he's doing something with his life, but any serious tasks are handled by others. AEW exists so Tony doesn't break anything important, like a football team.

To Brian - Tony was most likely playing EWR (Extreme Warfare Revenge) - it was by far the most popular wrestling booking sim on the market, and had forums where people could post their shows (some would even write out the promo segments for workers, and go into great detail on the angles). Later on, he might have been playing TEW (Total Extreme Warfare) - it was made by the same developer as EWR, but went into much more detail, and again there's forums out there for players to post their shows.
@ArtificialIyDeranged
@ArtificialIyDeranged Жыл бұрын
Both games have "worker morale" as a mechanic. Interestingly enough, one component of the game is that the wrestlers don't care about which show they're on, so long as they're getting work. Which explains why he uses people on Dark and not understanding why they aren't happy. In the game, that was enough to keep morale up.

I had my own batman and friends wrestling show too. Nightquest Batman was basically Kane, and I finished out the promotion by having my first ever figure finally win the big one after slowly climbing up the card for years by outlasting the baddest ninja heel there was! Guess this means I could take over TNA and bring it back to greatness right?

It sounds like Tony Khan was up all night playing Dungeons & Dragons with his 2 "friends" who only hung out with him because hes a rich mark, but they used wrestling action figures on their E-wrestling booking campaigns.. wouldn't surprise me if Tony was still doing this till this day.

That article just made me sad for Tony Khan, tbh. Sounds like Rich Daddy Warbucks just bought him the promotion to make him happy he never paid attention to his lonely, pathetic son when he was younger.

@@shaunsmith5732 not that I ever remember. Nothing official anyway. Slaughter had deal with them as he also appeared in their movie. Perry also appeared in some comics and an episode or two of cartoon. They tried getting a Rocky license but failed so made a mocking figure and had a bocer figure as Cobra trainer I think name Bal Boa. But dont ever rwmember Piper.

Full confirmation. This MARK is a dangerous cross between Dixie Carter & Herb Abrams. But in his "fantasy booking" he thinks he's Vince McMahon III with Ted Turner's money.

I thought I was the only one who used G.I. Joes to fantasy book wrestling 🤣 I would go and get wrestling magazines and anyone not in WWF or NWA would get booked in my fantasy promotion. I'd have a PPV everyday after school. Matter of fact, when I got Serpentor I was so geeked because he was gonna be the main heel in my promotion 🤣

I think there's another interesting line of thinking that was glossed over @3:53 Tony said that when he was fantasy booking Dynamite, he would start over in a new territory with new stories every few years. The real life Dynamite has existed for a few years now and because it is a business with contractual obligations Tony cannot relaunch, even if he wanted to. So instead he bought up tons of new talent (to AEW at least) as the workaround. The big obstacles are that Tony has to deal with or ignore the problems he didnt face in a fantasy e-fed and since he is not capable of starting fresh he's letting things get stale e.g Jericho being way too much of a presence on shows.
