My husband Dudley was brilliant. It's good to hear Jim's validation that Dudley was the one who created the Marshall sound.

Sad Barbara that all the other info was totally incorrect, at last he actually mentioned Dudley.

In 1974, my local music store called me up and said, "hey, there is a guy trading in 2 4x12 Marshall cabinets for some stereo gear and we are allowing him $300.00 in credit. If you were to come down and offer him a bit more, you could probably get them" so I took $390.00 down and he accepted it and i came home with 2 c.1969 cabinets that were like brand new. Those cabinets changed everything and our Band Mondo Bando were the only band in the Spokane, Seattle Washington area using such heavy weaponry. I ended up using my 2 4x12 cabs and an 8x10 cab, a 50 watt and 100 watt head and my bass player was using 2 full stacks with 100 watt heads. I still have my 2 4x12 cabs and the 50 watt head from those days. I added to my Marshall collection in the 1990's with 3 more stacks, 2 guitar and one bass stack and added 3 more 50 watt heads which were my favorite to use. I wish I had had the JCM 900 50W heads back in the 1970's with the pre-amp features but nothing ever beat the sound of the early cabinets. Marshall memories are the best.

There is such a great level of anxiety in him... And I understand that. If you are ordinary man, you can't create empire like Marshall. Jim Marshall has been an extraordinary human being. No matter if you have 10 watt solid-state amp or JVM2000 head, the sound you hear is Jim's voice. We all must be thankful for the opportunity to have this sound in our homes. Much love, Jim. May you rest in Valhalla!

I bought my first guitar from Jim around 1960 for 4 quid.. It was a Russian acoustic copy of a Spanish guitar. After getting it out of the window and holding it lefthanded, Jim said he'd change the strings around. Still playing and still lefthanded.

the men and women who served in the military back in those days were highly technically trained and very skilled craftsmen and women, in the States they went on to hot rod cars and often times when I ran into an "old timer" and I mean that as a term on endearment I would ask them where did you learn how to do that, they would say something along the lines of in the US Navy

Charlie Smith Maybe because it's hard to understand everything when you're not a native speaker and have no experience living in the US or UK?

Charlie Smith OK, you got offended, I'm sorry. But I've never implied that he speaks bad English or something... It's just that it's still to hard for me to fully understand free speech
