I've been big into Jimi since 1970 and never heard heroin mentioned in regard to this awesome track. A pathologist, Professor Donald Teare, told the inquest that he had found no signs of drug addiction when he carried out the post mortem. “The normal signs are marks on hands and arms,” he said. “Once there, they never go. In this case there were no marks whatsoever.”

Been a fan of Jimi since 1969. Unfortunately no one has come even close to the Legendary Jimi Hendrix. I don't say that lightly or with bias, but hoards of people would disagree and think I am bias. The thing is, many have tried. Technically, they will be faster, more dextrose etc. But what most people are missing, is that Jimi was much more than a Guitarist. His whole being and life in every moment was dedicated to his art, so he was a composer, writer, poet, and explosive showman/entertainer. He rode the Highest Wave right up till it crashed. He didn't get off the wave before it crashed, he rode it the whole way. The thing is, he inspired everyone you know of and don't know of. Eric Clapton was in awe of him. He was asked what it's like to be the greatest guitar player. He said don't ask me, ask Prince. Now Prince in many Top musicians minds was 100% dedicated to his Music, like Jimi, but many don't know that he was one of his biggest fans and tried to emulate Jimi. When asked who he thought is the greatest, he said, " Jimi is still the man! " Why, because Jimi was and still is on another level. I know all the other guitarists, all of them, that are very good, but not like Jimi, and they would agree. Jimi was a gift. Something other worldly🌸🙏

Your Jimi Hendrix experience would be sadly incomplete without you seeing him play THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER at Woodstock. You will be in awe as he is the only man in this world who could bring the sounds of The Vietnam War to life. It ended up defining the whole era. So sad he didn't live to see it.

1981 i was 18, first time i became aware of Hendrix's music, i had heard of him. It was love at first listen. The man was a genius, the premier rock guitarist of all time in my own opinion and a hell of a songwriter . I cant imagine hearing this in 68, must have sounded like an alien landed and picked up a guitar. He had great style and a pretty good voice too, total package. Wish i could have seen him live! Much like the Beatles, there is before Hendrix and after.

People felt music and improvised before Hendrix, but he brought the two together like nobody else and took it further, Hendrix didn't just play music, at times it was more like sonic tantric sex with the universe. If you can play along to his solos, its gets in you in the way you bend the strings, you feel it in a different way and the feeling wells up and you want more of it, you want to go further and futher. It's really a transmutation of sexual energy thing.

Underneath all of that hyperamplification and the wah-wah pedal effects, what Jimi Hendrix was literally playing there were Muddy Waters-style blues licks. If you listen to the actual notes themselves without the extensive electricity, you can clearly hear that they're the same licks as in a tune like Muddy Waters's ""Still a Fool/Two Train Blues": kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rMphfLKUyb-de4E.html

Everyone makes such a big deal about it. The simple fact is left handed guitars were extremely rare. It was easier for a left handed player to just buy a right handed guitar, string it left handed, and set it up left handed. Even today, a company like fender only makes around 10% of their total yearly output in left handed.

Jimi could play left and right handed, but he preferred left handed play. To achieve that he took a right handed strat turned it upside down, and strung it for left hand playing. Jimi could play with his teeth, over his head, between his legs, and behind his back effortlessly. I agree with Krisso Starko. There was nobody like Jimi back then, and there has been nobody like Jimi since his death. He was light years ahead of other guitarists. If you put all the good guitarists in a room, Jimi would be alone in another room ten blocks up the road. He was unique and very special. Jack Bruce perhaps best described Jimi when he stated that Jimi was not like a conventional guitar player but rather like some sort of force of nature. Jimi like Clapton was self taught on guitar. People ask how he was so good on guitar. That man strapped his guitar on as soon as he had cleaned up in the morning. He walked around the house with the guitar strapped on, ate his breakfast with the guitar, and even went to the loo with guitar still strapped on. All the time he was working with the guitar. He did that so much that Jimi and the guitar were one. He knew the guitar so well that expression of himself through the music via the guitar was effortless. You often see Jimi with his eyes closed when playing. He did not have to see anything. The music just poured out of him over the strat. There have been many copies, but Jimi was the real deal. I know. I saw him perform live more than once. Incredible is an understatement of his capabilities on guitar. Erm yes....Jimi set fire to his guitar at the Monterey Pop Festival. Not the first time he had done that. At one time nearly burned down the stage curtains swinging the guitar over his head on fire. Feel that vibe!!

There’s Jimi Hendrix and then there’s everyone else ! Some people say Stevie Ray Vaughn is better but that’s not reality because Jimi does Jimi and everyone else tried to sound like or look like or act like Jimi and well there’s Jimi Hendrix the originator and there’s everyone else ! You have more modern guitarist but nobody set the music world on fire like Jimi , think about it his first album came out in 1967 and he died 3 years later with Are you experienced ? , Axis : Bold as love and Electric Ladyland oh and yeah he played Woodstock ! The man just can’t be topped especially in today’s era because to be honest it’s all been done before and people look back at artist like Hendrix and his contemporaries and go loco because they were just so good back then , I’m a guitarist and songwriter myself and in the late 80s I was drawn to Hendrix by his music , his persona and besides being an awesome guitarist he dressed so cool and you have to understand heavy metal was the thing back in the late 80s with all the wild metal riffs but I was just gravitating towards Hendrix and his Blues / Rock / Psychedelic music and it changed me for the rest of my life ! People have their opinions about who they think is the best guitarist , but you have to realize he made music when guitars , amplifiers and effects pedals was in their infancy and he did all that oh yeah and he was the master of feedback with his guitar amplifier !

You will differences between live recordings and studio versions of the same song. Often you can hear differences from one stage show to the next, because the artist does something different in a song, or plays a different rift, note, or cord. Jimi Hendrix is one of the most copied, and covered artists, still, in the music industry. What generation will bring up the next 'Jimi?' Good question... Almost no one in the industry today, can play any instrument, or sing, or write lyrics. Until the 'ART,' is put back into music, it will remain the dead, self indulgent, sterile, world of 'rap.'

Just stop it. Jimi was an innovator, writer, composer, arranger, lyricists. SRV was an imitator. Hendrix existed before, and without SRV, yet SRV would never exist if it was not for Jimi (and Albert King), as he innovated nothing.
