Jimmy Dore cites outdated and irrelevant articles from 2020 regarding the hospitalization of children to persuade his audience that children should go back to school. The Majority Report crew somewhat in disbelief discusses how Dore talks about the Chicago Teachers Union and why he thinks Omicron, the predominant Covid variant, is not a threat to children. The crew finds it despicable that Dore shows no concern of Long-Covid in children, but rather the long-term social implications of being out of school for the first two weeks of January.

Sam Seder: Here is Jimmy Dore railing against the Chicago teachers union, as you know for the first week back from school the teachers union wanted to have safety protocols as to how them going to school. Perhaps have you know a remote option and the other day their insistence on this- and then they were basically locked out of the schools by the Chicago school system. They came to an agreement I think it was a day or two ago where they basically just set up a metric system or metrics for when you would go remote and so I want to clarify that because I got corrected by a listener. Because yesterday I had sort of characterized saying that they wanted the remote option what they wanted or at least what they settled for was some metrics as to when that happens now...

Purpose of schools: 1. Day care for the American Working Class 2. To teach basic math, literacy, science, etc plus critical thinking. So we can have a population that can hold down a job. 3. Socialization skills(working in groups, recess, lunch, etc) so you learn how to work and interact with others. Learning how to deal with @ssholes. 4. How to take directions(think of a teacher as your supervisor when you get older). Learning how to do things that you don’t want to do or may not be good at. 5. Learning how to repeat a daily routine(like going to work everyday) even when you don’t feel like it.

From glyphosate being bad, to not wanting fluoride on the water, to "chemtrails", to NASA staging the Moon landing and all the way to hollow or flat Earth and anything in between (9/11, JFK, etc.). The latest fad is crapping on the vaccines, vax fearmongering and covid contrarianism. There are some that are promoting "the great reset", "the fourth industrial revolution" or the "build back better" plan nonsense as a conspiracy theory right now. They seem like a very profitable business and I don't there'll be an end to them. Jimmy Dore could retire just peddling pseudoscience and conspiracy theories.

I'm a teacher in NY. One of my Senior students DIED of COV on her graduation day in June 2020. Dimmy pretends to advocate for healthcare, direct action, and the working class. BUT, when workers collectively organize for better health outcomes for themselves and their students he has an issue? GTFOH. Hope he skips his booster, and catches SEVERE Omincron.

I don't remember when I stopped watching Dimmy Jore. I enjoyed his going in hard on cops and in general pointing out innefectual politicians but at some point I realized I was watching for the wrong reasons. A guy dunking on stuff I want to be dunked on is not the same as engaging with the topic. Obviously when a lot of his lefty audiences got tired of his repeatative nature, I guess he felt the need to find the audience that never tires of dunking on *insert thing they think should be dunked on in that moment*. Obviously, this show does dunking, but holy shit if they don't go out of their way to mix informative discussions NPR style *and* dunking, etc. not to mention the hosts test their beliefs with call ins all fo the time. I mean...there's not a comparison to Jimmy Dore Show in that respect. Cause don't get me wrong, I never grew out of dunks, but...you know, after a while you kind of tire of eating ice cream all the time and do want a salad and then you realize you like salad more than ice cream, etc. I have no idea what I"m saying, but hopefully someone understands this slightly intoxicated rambling. TL:DR Dore's a one trick pony who ran out of his original audience and it appears his style of shitting on 'the establishment' makes just as much money for him no matter who the target is, therefore he doesn't care who he talks shit about, nevermind how he constructs the shit he talks.

Yessss ! EXACTLY! No one's talking about the fact that the same "social interactions" and benefits being argued of going to school In person.. disappear for a kid when they end up eith post viral chronic illness. I would know. I got chronically sick after initially asymptomatic infection of EBV and flu, after it quietly ate away at my nervous system and immune system.. eventually taking over and leaving me permanently disabled and reliant on feeding tubes when I was 14. all because of the same conditions being seen in long covid. I lost the ability to go to school most days and missed over a years worth of school in the 3 years following my infection. Dr. Offit at CHOP treated me upon my first admission for post viral illness and hospital acquired norovirus. He's also changed his statement last week saying rhat the icu is filled with COVID19 and other viral infection in those children unvaccinated. Btw: my school closed several times for infections being spread around the school. Including flu and strep. This isn't new. 😑

The ones who *didn't die,* but just ended up incredibly sick for the rest of their lives. (A fate often worse than death.) _"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger"_ is a stupid and dangerous saying, because what doesn't kill you not only *can* - but often *DOES* - fuck your entire life up *forever.* Leaving you with permanent suffering. Uncurable symptoms. Eternal pain and virtigo/nausea. But nobody likes to talk about that. We view illness as having only *two* possible outcomes. Death or recovery! A beautiful funeral or a triumphant return to health! However, the world isn't always like that. LIFE isn't always like that. HEALTH isn't alway like that. Not at all...

Uncle Tom Wouldn’t you say that Trump has done a similar thing by taking this group on the right that were getting angrier by each decade. With Ross Perot they were angry and Gingrich capitalized. With Obama’s election they were angry and the Tea Party did the same. After Obama Trump just reaped the rewards. On the left, Jerry Brown to Ralph Nader got the leftist contingency. Then Kucinich, and after Bernie, only someone as angry as Jimmy represented that anger. Whereby liberals are classic examples of antidisestablishmentarianism (I'm agreeing with you I just wanted to seize the opportunity). Dore sucks and he's wrong, the problem with liberals are not what he says but their obsessive reactionary stance against anything opposing the status quo, or "the establishment". Antidisestablishmentarianism can manifest as fascism quite easily. Fascism is already the status quo so people like Dore are actually enabling fascism with their reactionary politics.

No one's talking about the fact that the same "social interactions" and benefits being argued of going to school In person.. disappear for a kid when they end up eith post viral chronic illness. I would know. I got chronically sick after initially asymptomatic infection of EBV and flu, after it quietly ate away at my nervous system and immune system.. eventually taking over and leaving me permanently disabled and reliant on feeding tubes when I was 14. all because of the same conditions being seen in long covid. I lost the ability to go to school most days and missed over a years worth of school in the 3 years following my infection. I'm still permanently disabled and reliant on two feeding tubes at 27. My life was destroyed. Dr. Offit at CHOP treated me upon my first admission for post viral illness and hospital acquired norovirus. He's also changed his statement last week saying rhat the icu is filled with COVID19 and other viral infection in those children unvaccinated. Btw: my school closed several times for infections being spread around the school. Including flu and strep. This isn't new. 😑

How much damage is being done to kids who aren't going to school? I imagine about as much damage as kids who got home-schooled pre-pandemic, which is perfectly legal and has long been seen as a valid alternative. And I'm sure the kids who were being bullied are happy to not have to go to school. Did anyone ever consider that for some, school is the danger place and not home? With or without a deadly pandemic? Fuck school, much ado about nothing, it's just a low-effort daycare for the most part.

He has made many good points in the past, but the whole "force the vote" thing did a better job of splitting the left than the establishment or the Republican party, could ever have done. Social media platforms have a 'villager' demographic. It is roughlt the same 'village people' on each platform. If you manage to tap into that village market, they will buy whatever you sell them - supplements, hats, donations, lies... Dore has just plugged into that market, that's all. I want an end for this too but people need to be careful with Omicron. Even though its milder lung wise, it still has the same vascular effects, which is the main cause for Long Covid. 1/3 still have debilitating side effects months afterwards with no signs of going. Some even have mild cases, then suddenly die later on from clots. There's a Guardian article that came out today that shows some torturous Long Covid effects that leave people unable to sleep for days so they eventually commit suicide. It's not an acute lung sickness it's a chronic vascular sickness (the worst part is we've known that for for over a year)

I've not caught covid this whole time. I was already a bit of a hermit so the only thing I really had to change was just wearing masks and keeping away from folks. I will say I didn't make it this far into the game to throw it all away on the last damn level and we're hitting the final boss rush...where everyone (even the CDC!?) seems to be about rah rah shishkoombah normalcy garbage while the numbers are saying the exact opposite...and yes, long covid is something i've most been concerned with and why I do not want to catch or spread it to anyone because of these long term effects that seem to keep being discovered on a weekly basis. I've had 5 friends catch it, one of them never really recovered. At his worst, he couldn't go out to his mail box without stopping to take a rest, he's caught it a second time and he said he never felt normal after the first time which was a year prior and that he feels like he just doesn't have energy anymore despite being cleared. I don't know what will happen to him long term, but that shit sounds terrible. I had another friend who loves tequila on the weekends and she caught it twice. The first time, she didn't have issues with breathing, but this time she does AND she says her favorite drink literally tastes like smelling a dog turd or something. I wish I was making this up. Anyway, stay safe, the only actual way out of this pandemic is Sudafed Cold, Flu and Covid syrup or whatever type OTC treatment. Until then, it's not going to be over.

I got sick two springs in a row, then once more in sixth. Third, forth and fifth. First one was chickenpox, second anemia and third diarrhea. Otherwise I always get a throat disease in winter... until COVID. I've gotten the cold, but no use of particular antibiotics. 2020 I got away scott free all winter, haven't gotten sick in 2021 and ongoing winter.

@@fodsaks I couldn't agree more. I was even at his live show last august. That was before he went full psycho. I have some theories on what happened. He seems to have fallen under the spell of this psychotic lying quack doctor Malone, who was banned by twitter, and who has been condemned in the strongest terms by doctors working at children's hospitals. But you can tell that graham elwood and Aaron mate are definitely distancing themselves from this trainwreck. Jimmy's constant medical and scientific misinfo is gonna get a lot of people hospitalized

Covid is rampant globally. We completely failed to contain it, and now it's endemic. We'll be seeing new variants from now until forever, regardless. Trying to stop that from happening is futile. On the upside, those new variants will likely be less harmful, because that's typically the way viruses mutate.

My granddaughter tested positive for covid over the Christmas/New Year break. We have always taken this pandemic very seriously. We live in a 3 generation household and are in the final stages of quarantine/isolation. I am one of 3 sisters who are baby boomers.and all 3 of us have children and grandchildren who have been hard hit by Covid over the winter break and some have gotten very sick. This is very real and very concerning. How Dare Mr. Dore make such light of this very concerning situation and how Dare he LIE about it. Pisses me off.

Do we have to choose between a jagoff comedian and government agencies that are totally captured by pharmaceutical companies? Where is the nuance? Why are we persisting in policies that are based upon the defunct belief that these shots stop the spread? They don't do that. They protect people with comorbidities from the worst- but they also have dangerous side effects just like every single drug that these companies put out. Every Dore and other right wing herd mentality omicron inviter needs to be asked to describe in high detail exactly how they make the choice whether they catch omicron or another variant. As of the end of 2021 the prevalence of omicron was roughly 60%. So there's a very decent chance of catching delta, which notably isn't the mild symptoms variant.

Just look at the ratio of live stream viewers to subscribers for this channel and compare that to a tiny channel like Jackson hinkle. It doesn't matter what you think of Jackson Hinkle... Those numbers are damning and videos like this don't make them go away.

I'm vaccinated, so highly unlikely to catch delta. "Breakthrough" omicron cases are very common though. Unvaccinated people are at much higher risk of course, but that's their decision.

@@intorpere actually, vaccinated people still catch it/transmit at about the same rate. The vaccine is much more useful for people who are older and have comorbidities. As with most medications, there are risks and the manufacturers try to downplay those risks. It's highly questionable whether young people, particularly children, should be given these relatively untested pharmaceutical products.

I'd recommend the conversation that Briahna Joy Gray just had with Kshama Sawant and Chris Hedges. There is a real divide in the left and it's not just because of Jimmy Dore and "Nazbols".

He quoted Dr. John Campbell, who is one of the most level headed people around regarding covid. But what he didn't quote was that Dr. Campbell has also said that even though its clearly less severe symptoms, hospitals could be overwhelmed just from the sheer number of cases, which is exactly what has happened.

As someone from Sweden, who has been incredibly infuriated with the portrayal by American bozo media about our pandemic strategy, the study from 2020 was correct and has shown to be correct here, all along many times over. However, Omicron this does not apply to. It spreads a lot faster. And even though, child hospitalizations has been extremely low throughout and continue to be, some restrictions are being reimposed due to not having the health care system collapse in one form or the other.

Sweeden is a lovely country (I've been there) but it has a very small population. Many towns are quite isolated from the few "big" cities, that's why the initial virus couldn't really spread that fast. The climate is different, people are more healthy than the average Americans and the healthcare system is clearly better. The circumstances are just different compared to other countries. The British thought too that their strategy was awesome until they drowned in cases. In the end, the only countries that were successful in containing the pandemic are Australia and New Zealand, thanks to their policies and their geography.

I can only assume that his finances were such that he had to remarket his brand regardless the damage or shame it would bring.
